Hole Cards Confessions Study Group: Introduction

We are excited to kick off the Cards Chat study group of “Hole Card Confessions” by Drag the Bar instructor Owen Gaines. Each week we will be covering two sections of the book and Owen will be joining us in the threads to answer questions.

I will be posting brief summaries of the material to be discussed in the OP of each thread. I will not be regurgitating the whole book so people don't have to read it. I will not be quoting long sections of copyrighted material. The goal is to give each thread a starting point; not to reproduce the book for free for anyone who finds the thread.

Owen, and most participants have indicated that the first 34 pages of the book are very basic and don't need a lot of attention. However Owen suggested that we create a thread for it to help newer players who come to the thread.

This thread is for pages 1-34 and covers:

1. The two keys to successful poker.
2. 10 ways to gain information.
3. Different environments.
4. Levels of Thinking.
5. Player Types
6. How to categorize players.

OK, I reread these first pages 2 days ago in prep for this discussion, and I don't think that I have anything to ask/add. However, I will be subscribing so I can participate if things start to kick off in this thread.

Hi Makwa,

This thread covers the introductory material, which is pretty basic so there might not be a lot of traffic. However, in the thread for the chapter on Range there is already a pretty good discussion going on. Owen is also chiming in as time allows.
