Check out the cardschat strategy articles, read some poker books, and post hand histories and become an active member here at CC. Hope this helps.

The best thing I can add to SubT's post is Practice, Pratice, Practice and then practice some more.

While your reading the strategy articles make a list of starting hands and how to play them according to position for quick reference while playing online. If you run across a hand you wonder how you could have played better post a hands history of it to get some feedback from the gang here.

What games are you playing at your casino? I suspect that you are playing No Limit Hold'em. If so, give Limit Hold'em a try. I have found that in live play, there is a LOT more loose money and weak players at the Limit tables than at the No Limit Tables. In live play, I was lucky to break even playing No Limit, where I have been able to consistently beat the Limit Games. I don't play well against maniacs. Mind you, I don't like it when another Limit player sucks-out and beats a hand that I could have protected much better at a No Limit table. But, I am willing to live with this possibility in return for not loosing my entire chip stack as a result of one bad read.

Playing against the same small pool of people over and over again is a lot different than playing with a bunch of strangers at a casino.

I recommend reading several poker books first. If you do not have the discipline/dedication to read a few books chances are you're not have what it takes to succeed in the long term at a casino.

Usually home games have 5-7 people and can play alittle loose. You know your opponents and have some reads on them. You are not tight because you know who is beating you. You don't get nervous.

At a casino it is all new players and a different environment completely. Most casino tables are close to full and will have 9 to 10 players. That means you should tighten up alittle because of more players. You have to be alittle more patient. Watch closely to see who is in alot of pots and who folds what. You will get who plays any A or any suited cards quickly and pick on those people.
