Jesus has it right on the nose..However it was a trap play that trapped yourself instead of your opponent... The check is just guidelines of a sense of weakness.. If you bet on the turn he may have called anyway but at least you have to make "him" pay to beat you with the better starting hand. Not have "pay" for you to beat him with the inferior starting hand.

re: Here is how to lose. poker When a pair of A's improve to a set, you become more vulnerable to straight draws... I have a post about Aces somewhere. So you all know when your AA improves to a set...push! Take a deck of cards deal any 2 cards with an ace, there is always a straight draw...always. No matter what flops with the ace, a straight is always 1 card away. When your Aces improve to trips push push push you are way more vulnerable than you think. He was coming anyway Brianna, but Ace flop matrixes are always vulnerable. Bill

Got pocket aces on the button last night in a limit ring game and I pushed a raise like I should. Had 3 callers and flop was a blank rainbow. Continued to press the action and it came down to 2 callers. Turn and river were same suit which put a flush draw on the board. In another thread I posted about folks playing any 2 suited cards - yes, both my callers had the flush. One fella had an 8-4, the other had a 10-5 - both hands I'd call a pre-flop raise with...

re: Here is how to lose. poker Thanks for the responses to my thread guys. This hand was only one of a couple that crushed me last night. About an hour before I was about 10 spots from the money. I had $2000 chips and limp in on BB with 22. Flop comes A2J, I move all in against the only one in the hand who was in the SB. He calls with AQ. The turn is a K and the river is a 10. Runner runner bite my ass. So there I go in 206th with a 198 payout. On to happier things. Here are the results of all my action last night. I didn't do great, but my later tourneys made up for the earlier debacles. Buy in/ people/ result/ payout 2.20 / 1100 / 206 / 0 1.10 / 1184 / 602 / 0 3.30 / 1235 / 381 / 0 3.30 / 1800 / 26 / 14.58 2.20 / 1574 / 1121/ 0 5.50 / 1331 / 775 / 0 3.30 / 1250 / 70 / 7.12 2.20 / 882 / 159 / 2.82 So as you can see this was a lot of multi tasking. Maybe to much, but in the end I still made money and had fun. I spent $21.10 on buy ins and cashed $24.50 for the night. The first and third tourneys I finished with in 10 spots of the money. Not super poker by any means, but good enough that all I lost was time and I got plenty of that. Well the first tourney on pokerstars is at 11 something EST. so I'm off to see what the day brings. Maybe I'll see one of you out there.
