Ranger, it is a tough situation because the flop was so big for your hand, and if you're up against an ace, there's likely a lot of money already in the pot... If you thought they had an ace earlier in the hand, you probably will be folding for a big bet. If you think they could have a bigger pocket pair than your nines, (not jacks) then you would be more inclined to call a bigger bet. If you opted to slowplay this flop, and you ran into a bet on the turn, you could be up against jacks full. If you think there is a chance they are bluffing, or that they have KK or QQ, then you will be calling, otherwise its check-folding...

In addition to Hook's comments (which I agree with), I also think some critical information is missing on how you got to this point in the hand (who raised and reraised and on which streets), postion, stack sizes, opponent ability, your read, etc.

Without this info, best I can say by looking at the board is, I know I lose if my opponent holds Ax or Jx. Assuming my opponent is not completely retarded (this is just an assumption for this response because we've all seen the morons out there), then I have to fold this my 99 because the likelilhood of him holding A or J is good enough (or he has the nuts to be all in without the nuts. )

The addition of more information could change my response.

re: HELP poker

Funny this is brought up, cos the exact thing happened to my friend on Friday. He had the 3 9's on the flop and the other two cards were KK. He bet big and was called. Therefore by the end of the hand he was fully committed and lost to KKK.

After seeing that I'd fold

I would have been all in on the flop, everyone that wasn't holding an ace would have folded, leaving you probably in a heads up situation..making your odds pretty good. Of course with the JJ following it would have given your opponent a full house so would lose

if the bored has paired twice and their is a lot of action you can be pretty sure that your hand is dead in the water.

re: HELP poker

you better bet that I would fold if it was a full table of ten to begin with. Way to many people love going all in aith just one ACE. A 2 A3 etc.... and Jacks are pretty common cards to see people bet with too!!!

My vote

Personally, that river card wouldn't be seen unless someone called my all-in bet on the turn. I would have been all-in by then. Sticking to the situation at hand though you fold no question. Slow play is ok for the flop to a point, but never at the turn.
