Okay, so i must be the worst person in the world headsup!
Ive already come 2nd out of 1,500 in a short handed $50 freeroll at poker.com 3 times now. And ive done it again today. It still got me $10, but i really wanted to win, as i havnt yet won a tourney!! I always start of with quite a big advantage, but still lose. I know that you need to be aggressive in heads up especially when the blinds are huge, but whenever i raise or try to bluff they just re-raise me and i have to fold. I need some advice!! What cards are good in heads up. I ended up going all-in with pocket 7s, and his 10 j beat me. Please help!! ![]() |

I feel your pain aces! Seem like everytime i get to heads up the other player keeps raising like a madman. One thing i have learned is that it is easy to trap these kinds of players. Wait until you have a good hand and if your still good after the flop just check and more than likely this player is going to keep right on betting so take advantage of the free chips, and if they reraise and you think you have it, go all in.
Oh, and just be patient, dont let them put you on tilt! |

heads up is a tough nut to crack! but you have many more outs per hand heads up! and most people want to go for a race heads up, they very rarely slow play to a win! if you get pulled all in preflop all you can do is have the best hand going in! and if the bad beat comes! 2nd is not a bad place to be when moving to 1st! Good Luck

i'm working on my heads up article. until then, i will say, that while i consider agressive play to be important HU, in my opinion you have to mix up your game to avoid being too predictable (if you are being reraised a lot, that's probably because your opponent knows you'll raise with anything), or at the very least try to understand the way your opponent thinks you're playing and react to that. And don't feel that you have to look for races. The longer the match goes, the more the advantage will shift to the better player.

i agree with nate. Never be afraid to move chips hu in tournaments. Alot of people who dont like to play hu dont like it cuz theyre having trouble adjusting i think. Remember that j8 is the avrage hand(i think) and go from there. Make them think your weak if they are aggressive and then checkraise them allin with stuff flushdraws/straightdraws.Run over weak opponents and lay back when they realize it. What many hu players seem to forget is that blind aggression is also very predictable.
