Heads up position

I know that being last to act in a round of betting is a huge advantage but how about in a heads up match if you are playing super aggressive. I often find it to be much more beneficial to act first, especially if the blinds are quite high. Any thoughts?

Playing super aggressive in either position in Heads Up is a huge advantage. You must be aggressive in order to win. You can't rely on luck or let luck beat you.

Very true, you need to be the aggressor in heads up, now what if you opposition is also trying to be the aggressor ? Are you going to end the contest in less than 20 hands with each player trying to gain control of the game ?

I find that i win about 60-70% of the time heads up, when i lose its because of the problems outlined above. Any thoughts ?

Read the article in the, mmmmm, article section on changing gears. You need to have played for a while and played a quite a few HU matches to nurture your skills but this is how you win playing HU. You can quite easily change from aggresser to tight if you have the skill and guts to do it.

When the blinds r low you can be as aggressive as you like but you will get caught and lose most of your stack. I play it tight early then when the blinds go up you can change gears and hit your opponent with bigger hands.

If I get a real aggressive player, most of the time you can slow play and they beat themselves

I prefer 2nd position still. Heads up if all they do is call you or throw a minimum raise I usually bump it up 3 to 4 times the current bet
