25/50c cash game and i've played 5 hands and won three by being the aggressor,don't know any of my opponents but they all have around $30 in chips.Its a 6 seater game with one sitting out.

I'm utg with AK off and raise 4* the BB,i;m called by the SB and BB.

Flop comes 443rainbow

I bet the pot to represent an overpair and get a call from the big blind,the SB having folded.

turn is another 3

I raise $6 thinking unless he has a overpair my Ace is good for at least a split.Another call and i'm nervous now!(possible quads )
river is the Kh and i bet $10 and i'm called.
what do you think his hole cards were?

A3? Problem is it could be anything - you raised 4 x BB - so that makes $1 right? Could call that with absolutely anything! And "I bet the pot to represent an overpair" - at that level more often than not you're not representing anything, your opponents dont care what you've got, what you could have and what you've bet - if they've got a hand, they've got a hand! I hate ring games (can you tell?!).

Any reads at all would be helpful here, but assuming "typical" opponents, I'd guess this:

Guess 1: A medium pair in the hole. 55-TT. He's afraid that you're holding a higher PP, but is reluctant to let his overpair go.

Guess 2: Ax, and wants to "keep you honest", hoping that A-high will take the pot.

Guess 3: A3s/K3s. This feels less likely unless he's a really weak/tight player. He can't possibly figure that you have a 4 and would raise UTG with that, so his full house should be a huge favorite.

In fact, scrap K3s. Let's say he had a 3 or a 4, and put you on an overpair. It's possible that he was slowplaying you until the river, but then a K fell, and he got scared thinking that you might have KK in the hand. That's a very scared play, but it's plausible, I guess.

Actually, screw slowplaying as well. I can't fathom someone slowplaying on the turn when you have position on him. A checkraise on the turn would have been correct, but he only called.

We surely must be able to rule out KK, 33 and 44. I suppose AA is a possibility, and he just freaked out about the possibility of being up against a full house.

Yeah, I'll go with a pocket pair. 55-AA, but not KK.

All reasonable guesses and pretty consistent with what was going through my mind until he turned over 9/4 offsuit!
I asked him why he called a big raise from the utg with that garbage and got a load of crappy abuse back along the lines of "dry your eyes loser" etc but i really wanted to know why he'd done it.
It all ended up nice though as i busted his A high straight with my Qs over Ks boat and pocketed his entire stack.
To be honest their was some truly awful play on the table and after i'd creamed $100 i buggered off to the $1/$2 tables and never saw a card all night as usual

I'm not as surprised to see that he played 94o as I am to hear that he didn't raise you. Jaheebus.

I was gonna guess 22, seen it happen before.

I'd have raised the arse off it myself FP.To be honest i should've give it up at the turn but i was in a "invincible" mode and now i wonder if he'd have bet it out if i'd checked.

Is there a posibility you over played AK? I beleive at some point no matter how erational his hole cards, he was letting you know, I can beat an overpair.

You overplayed AK. When you represented an overpair, he answered:
I acknowlege your overpair and I can BEAT it.

He saw your self admitted very aggressive style, and layed back allowing you to try to ram A high through his SET, which later improves to a boat! Then you beg him to tell you why? Oh man dude.

Pre flop, you are 66% to his 33%. He has implied odds to call, and boy did you pay him off. He said to himself this guy is running over the table I gotta make a stand, and defend this blind. Then, bam he hits.

Also, he appropriately takes advantage of your hyper aggressive play, but becoming passive.

Don't be too proud of your boat beating a broadway straight, That is going to happen. I mean you laugh at the dude for losing wiht a broadway straight to your boat... But, you lost to his boat with A HIGH!

Your opponents are customers, lets treat them with respect. If you ever want to know why someone played the way they did, analyze your game. Please don't akd them in a chat box.

Sorry for all the attitude in this one. These players that you drive away from the game, are how I put food on my table. I will defend them everytime.

I think I'm going to agree with Bill on this one. As for your pre-flop raise, that's a tuffy. I'm one of those players that defends my blind. Sometimes to much. Some times it pays off as it did for the 9-4.
