Handling our attitude while playing I know how hard it is to handle our own tempers and attitudes (especially online) when (in our minds) ridiculous calls are made against you and in other situations when players are rude and crude. Believe me, I do know - controlling my own temper and attitude is a constant struggle for me, but I keep on trying. For example, in a recent game, I was dealt QQ. I preflop raised 4x the big blind only to have two other players go all in. I decided to call as only two hands initially would beat me preflop. Much to my surprise, the two all in hands against me were 4 6 offsuit and K 2 offsuit. You guessed it, the King came and I was out. I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I got my own money in with the best hand and over time, those other players would likely pay me off. Another common situation is people constantly berating other people online during a game. (This does not happen as often in live games.) I am not talking about someone berating me personally - I can take care of myself. But it really bothers me when another player loses his/her temper to such an extent that a constant barrage of name calling and anger is directed to any player. Since I really like a social game and usually enjoy reading and participating in the chat, I seldom use the mute options available, but have resorted to that. For my own enjoyment, I want the card playing experience to be pleasant (and ultimately profitable). Therefore I try very hard to maintain my own attitude and try to forget or forgive other players and their calls or bad behavior. Sometimes it is a very close call trying to control my own attitude (Irish temper and all that). As I get older and older, I am finding it easier to control my own attitude while playing cards. Practice makes perfect, I guess. LOL I am curious though, what do others of you do to maintain your tranquility and keep the game pleasant?

Aaaaargh, just got hit by one of those donkey plays myself. Sometimes, I just don't maintain my tranquility, tho I know I should. I think you hit it on the head. Repeat the mantra, "All I can do is get my money in witht he best hand.oommmmmmmmmm" "all I dan do...." Because, what else can you do??

You have to keep reminding yourself that getting your money in the middle with the best hand is the goal. As some of the wiser players on this forum constantly remind people, why get mad at people who willingly put their money into a pot where you have the best hand.

that's really hard to keep focused when you loose pots like this, especially when you're close to the final table in a big tournament omg I get so sick with that I know this is a cliche alredy, but just take a deep breath and relax, it's very hard but it's the only thing we can do =/
