5th out of 540 is nothing to be sneezed at, nice work.
I'd say limping the button was a mistake. Your hand was probably good enough for a raise in that position, especially with the table short-handed. |

you kind of did the opposite of what you should have done on every street
raise pre bet flop majority of time (you're in only with the two blinds, easy for you to rep a K, unlikely they have any pair) fold turn because your flop play makes it impossible for you to rep anything check river |

response from younggun03
let u guys understand i wasnt thinking i had the best hand. i was clearly bluffing. after reading all the advice i would say i misplayed the flop and river. i shoulda raised the flop and took it down right there. on the flop i could of bet to pick it up but i didnt. on the turn i raised trying to bluff and represent a strong jack, a strong king which i slowplayed on flop because there was no draws on board or a set i slowplayed. Now the river was terrible, let me add the guy called me immediately with no hesitation on the turn when i raised. therefore he didnt have a 2 pair or a set.(he would of thought for a second with that type of hand for how he should play it). i should of checked or pushed all in knowing he wasnt that strong. I think i was so excited to win the tournament i didnt take the time to play my best.
thanx alot for all ur thoughts, younggun03 |

I think the River was the major mistake here but as you said it was just a bluff and unfortunatlly didnt work this time. Maybe you had been playing in such a way that he thought you bluffed a lot so was confident with his pair. Was you very agressive before this as how you played previous hands may of led to him making this call against you.

Turn raise is horrible and commits a lot of chips into the pot while you have very little at stake (limped preflop, checked flop). Since three people saw the turn, the chances of someone having a pair now are great. I can understand that you wanted to take away the pot but this isn't a smart move by any means if you didn't raise preflop because the two other guys could have anything. Getting called in this spot means that you should have shut down on the river UI to the nuts. I might bet a Q on the river but no way am I bluffing with third pair after being called on my turn raise: this is a play that will never work and that is why you got crippled and lost.
Agaisnt one opponent, I might like the turn raise after checking the flop, against three it is very meh since you are getting called way more often. |

Nothing wrong with the ocassional bluff. But it seems like you didn't really think this bluff through when you were executing it. First, you should have raised preflop. Q9 suited is in the top 40% of all hands so it's not a hopeless hand. And you did your bluff on the turn, after he already bet you raised him. Not too bad, he could have had a weak jack, or a pair of 6s which he would have folded. After he called your raise on the turn though, you should have just given up on your bluff, you've been caught. Just check it down on the river and don't try to bluff again.
