| gordon's LGB - BOW's game theory in the little green book, gordon talks about the biggest online winner (BOW) and his strategy: 1. get in the pot cheaply 2. massively overbet with a premium draw 3. massively overbet with the nuts he then gives an example hand: we are holding AK, the flop is Ad 7s 6s. there is $500 in the pot. BOW moves all-in for another $5000. he then proceeds to show a table of his possible holdings (77, 10s8s, 85o, and 59o). the total average pot equity for BOW is $21724 and ours is $20726. this gives BOW a positive expectation of around $250 each hand. sure, the math is right, but i think gordon over-simplified too many variables to manipulate this example and give it a positive expectation. for example, how often you flop premium hands vs. premium draws, and people picking up on this strategy. i mean this guy is supposedly the BEST PLAYER ONLINE! and this is his strategy? it seems a little disappointing to me... |

| When you play for as much money and as often as he does, "the math is right" means that he is making a profit. The variables you talk about are good points, but don't think he doesn't know this. The thing I like about this strategy is that if you overbet, it usually annoys the other players at the table. If you pick up on this, you can continue to overbet with premium hands and make bank when they push on tilt. |
