I just figured Id start up a thread on how people deal with the swings of poker which we all know can make you look like the seasoned pro at the table one minute and an absolute donk moments later. One strategy Ive tried using in the past is if I lose half my stack at a table I'll just get up and take a break for a little bit and find a new table. Everyone post what tips you have to avoid going on Tilt!!

What you're saying is that you go on tilt after loosing only half of a BI?

Taking a break for 10 minutes or so and reviewing my hands helps me a lot and once I return to the tables I can play at my best again.

You shouldn't be tilting losing a couple buy-ins.. If your using correct bankroll Management you should be fine as long as you play within your limits.

I've currently tilted and hit a downswing and my strategy when losing quite fast was dropping down 2 stake levels, and lose money slower at lower levels than lose it all at the current level.

You can take breaks but why? your not learning where it's going wrong. your just delaying the inevitable sometimes you just gotta work through it.

I also found out the reason was just overplaying so I decided to cut my play time. And it's already improved.

Well I don't have much experience on low+ stakes but on micro are two things that helps me a lot. First just instantly close all tables if I drop 4+ BI in small amount of hands (+-1000). Wait some time doing other things and then come back (maybe even another day). Also a good bankroll managment and looking at your overall winnings helps a lot. Second thing if I begin to get mad at anything at the tables I just fold a lot more, avoid tough spots and play for a while like a really tight nit and try to play only with players identified as fish.

I believe that on higher stakes that last advice is pretty hard to execute given on amount of good regs.

I thing the easiest way to not tilt is to use good BRM, then you won't have to tilt when you lose 1-2 BI, thats my opinion.
