Game Strategy Question I have started playing 3 nights a week at a local bar and the format is Sit n Go 10 seat tables with a $10 buy in. Most nights there are 3 or 4 tables gong at one time and new tables are started when there are enough players to start one. All players start out with 300 chips and the blinds start out at 5-10 and double each time a player goes out. The play is very loose for the most part. I have been holding my own in the game, but it seems like I could be doing better. My question concerns what strategy to approach this sort of game with. I am gernerally a pretty tight player by nature, but with the shallow stacks to start with and alot of wild play and players going out quickly and the blinds doubling it seems I become short stacked against doubled up stacks very quickly. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated. Thanks Gene B

With that structure it's pretty much a crapshoot, by the time 4 people have gone out the blinds are 80-160!!! At five people they are bigger than the starting stack. Your best strategy is to get dealt some really good cards. Failing that push all your chips in every time you get dealt something pretty (two face cards, any pair, A8+). There's not a lot of chance of skill playing much of a factor with that structure I'm afraid, good luck

Is the house taking a cut? I assume they are, if so they like this structure because it's fast and they can get more games in and therefore make more money. The structure is terrible if you want to play real poker however, this is just a luck tournament. Try to see if they will change the format on at least some of the games. Otherwise, like the previous poster said, just go all in whenever you have something decent.

re: Game Strategy Question poker No house cut-they just sell alot of beer! And I think your right-it is pretty much a shoot out until it gets down to the final 3 or 4. I have talked to them about a change in format and I think that it may come to pass. I hope so as it is a pretty good bunch of folks to play with.
