Four Dogs Hold'em Out Chart

In a signature I saw a link for this page, which potentially seems quite useful, but it doesn't have a key and the example links down the side don't seem to work for me

Presumably if I need the jack of diamonds, and only that one card will do, I have one out

If I need any jack, I have one jack in my hand and a jack has flopped, I have two outs

If I need a spade, I have two spades in my hand and two spades have flopped, I have nine outs

Sorry for such a basic question, but I haven't been playing for long and I want to be quite sure that I understand how to use the chart properly

Yes you seem to be correct. This chart is just showing what your odds to win are post-flop, assuming you know what cards you need. What this is mainly used for is to apply it with pot odds. Pot odds means that if there is one dollar in the pot and you have to call 10 cents to stay in, you are getting 10-ro-1 pot odds. If you need to hit 5 outs by the turn or river, your odds are 20% or 4-to-1. Therefore, the right option here would be to call because the pot is offering you better odds than your odds to hit a hand.
