Folded KK after big raise . . . $1 $2 NLHE at casino. I'm in cutoff seat, raise to $12 pre-flop. 5 callers. Flop comes Q 7 8 rainbow. I bet out $35, button calls and villain in middle position (tight passive) raises to $135. I'm thinking he plays so few hands and never raises . . . he has a set . . . after long thought, I fold and button calls (tight aggressive); I'm glad he calls, thinking I must have been behind. Turn is an 8 (pairing the board) River is a J showdown the villain in middle position shows 2-pair (Q's and 8's with a J kicker from board), button wins with 2-pair (Q's 8's with Ace kicker in his hand). Middle position had the lead until the board paired with 8's. Bad fold by me, apparently (unless the board didn't pair). Retrospect I'm thinking should never have folded as I had the overpair . . . thoughts ???

re: Folded KK after big raise . . . poker Yeah get it all in once guy raises you. Only hands that trouble you are set of 7or 8, QQ prob would have been re raised pre (but lot of fools love flating it), and 78. Really 3 hands so the guy raising being tight and passive prob does not have 78, so now you are looking at 2 hands he can have realistically. All other hands he has you are beating. Qx, 99, TT, open ended, etc. Another 8 on the board means nothing unless the guy flats your flop bet then maybe there is a concern but chances are tight and passive he even folds a pair of 8 unless he has A8. Tight passive players will may use his image to protect his pair of Q's thinking you you may have Ak but prob does not make same play with pair of 8. I am really looking into you tight passive comment lol obv i was not on your table so these suggestions i am making are what they are suggestions. Use them as something else to look at next time you run into hand like this. better luck next time

Well now I wonder what was his read on you that he "knew" you would back off. I wouldn't be able to get around him thinking he has TPTK or TPGK from his range and might have to at least call. Just impossible to tell what I would do without having sat there with these guys for a couple hours, BUT... Don't beat yourself up. A guy made a play juke and faked you out (just as easily would have faked me out too). It's going to happen again before you are done with your career. You spent that money to find out he wasn't as tight as you thought and that he was capable of either stupidity, insanity or massive balls. Maybe all three.
