| Flipping top pair So this happens to me quite often. I'll be big blind or small blind and i'll limp in with a pretty crap hand. Lets say 9 6. Lets say flop comes, 9 4 2. I'll raise usually a pretty firm bet (with top pair). Usually at this time the other people/person will fold. But sometimes I get an occasional large bet. I end up folding because I'm a huge wimp and think they flipped 2 pair or had a low pocket pair and ended up with 3 of a kind. What does everyone else think about this situation? |

| if you have top pair but a low kicker dont play it too agressive. you can often get caught in these situations. most of the time i just call others small bets to the river to avoid losing lots of chips. it works because most donks will have mid or low pair and will bet. just calling wont reveal your hand. |

| re: Flipping top pair poker if you just call you will never know where you really are in the hand. If you put out a marginal bet on the flop most times if you they will fold unless you are on one of those tables that no matter what you bet they will call to the river. it is always tricky playing with a low to marginal kicker you run the risk of losing when that over pair hits. |

Or (as likelier late in a tourny or a real money game) maybe they DO have A9, 2 pair or a set. Late is also where you'll find better players who might get read you to some extent. Try a little self-analysis (do you mix up your play?). I sometimes do better when I get more aggressive, but admittedly, often I have to force myself. |
