| Flatting on the button vs regs As I move up in stakes, I naturally encounter more and more decent regulars at each table I play, and even though I simply don't play at tables with only regs, they're of course not possible to avoid altogether. So while I focus on the fish, I'm also trying to develop a mostly solid strategy to counter the regulars. So, for those of you used to playing regs, what's your default flatting range on the button when a decent player opens in the hi-jack? I'm talking about someone playing roughly a 21/18 style and steals about 40% (but steals will be a smaller part of his range in this position). Mine: 22-TT,76s-QJs,KJs I haven't made any major attempts at balancing it, but my idea is mostly that I flat hands that I want to play fast on the flops I like, e.g. sets and big draws. Some of these hands get 3-bet occasionally, but not that often. I'm not a big 3-bettor; I sit at around 6-7%. I also have this thing where if I'm going to 3-bet light I prefer to do it with hands that I otherwise would have folded, like JTo or KTs, i.e. the best part of the range that I'm folding, as to avoid having to lay down an originally profitable hand to a 4-bet. Not a huge impact, perhaps, but I'd guess it's there. Thoughts? |

| Heh, pretty much exactly the same as me. I'll 3 bet the JQs, TJs perhaps a bit more regularly and am less inclined to 3bet very light, but I'm flatting most there as you are. Agree that there's some value possibly lost in 3betting the TT type as it's so likely to end things there and then or kill flop action (this may be a product of your and mine image not applicable to others). In summary: nothing useful to add |
