Fired Up

dont you guys all hate it when your doing great in a turny and everything is going great untill u lose half your bankroll on a bad beat. It happens to me all the time. I have noticed that 90% of the time it happens to me, I get all mad and fired up and end up losing the rest of my bankroll in the next few minutes. I recomend to just sit out a few hands and take a small brake. I have noticed that the few times i have done that, i ended up playing much better. Well its just someting to think about. What to u guys fell about this subject?

Take a Deep Breath

I think you are exactly right. Too many times when I take a beat like that, I get in a big rush to get back all the chips I just lost and usually bust out of the tournament completely.

We should look at the situation like this...Everyone's goal should be to finish first in every tournament we play in. However, most of the time that isn't going to happen because the odds are stacked against us. But we should always strive to overcome those odds to win. When we take a big hit from a bad beat, the odds become stacked against us even more...but we still have a chance, it is still possible to win if we still have chips. If we go on tilt and throw our chips in right away out of frustration, we will probably lose all of our chips...and when all of our chips are gone we have no chance to win the tournament (we have given in to the odds).

No matter how big your chip stack is, always strive for a win. Learn to play all stages of a tournament with all sizes of chip stacks. It takes patience and determination to win. Sometimes the cards seem to work against us but be assured they will soon start falling your way...Never give up.

If I've learned anything as of late it's to stay calm after suffering a bad beat. I still find myself loosening up when I shouldn't (usually after getting about a dozen 8-3o in a row) but I haven't tilted in quite a while. Lost on 3 aces last night to a river suck out, but just played thru it and recaptured my losses...

I think this is common problem for many pokers. Even pros can get well bent out of shape after losing a signiificant portion of their stack.

Take a few hands off to cool down is probably a good idea. It gives you time to remember why your are playing the tournament. To win it.

Taking bads beats is part of any tourney. And mostly like you will suffer at least one of these through the course of the tourney.

I took on yesterday and almost gave up. But, I took a deep breath and said to myself. I am here to win. Not to get knocked out. Well, I only made if to the 2nd level of in the money. But, that in itself was an accomplishment. First, because it didn't go tilting and get knocked out soon after the bad beat. Second, after the bad beat I had a really lousy string of cards. I had to fight my way back into even coming just into the money. But, I did and look at it as a good session overall. Mistakes and all.

the problem is that after u get a nice bankroll u get to play hands that u didn`t want too and then u say u must play to recover the loss and so the money goes , i get that pretty often

you know how many keyboards i used to go through before i got my temper under control. a couple a year. They snapp right in half if you hit them just right over a chair arm. I still find loose keys every now and again under the furniture
