Sounds like you need to pay more attention to your posistion, the other players play style, the cards that come out on the table and how many people are left in the hand/have yet to act.
Everyone suffers bad beats its just part of the game, tighten up your play and if you just play the good hands aggressivly then you should end up making money. |

oh ok I see! cuz i let myself get really angry when i fold the best hand!
so i guess i need to forget about the past hand and just focus on the hand at play and if some one bets really aggressive i should go with my gutt on the preflop! i apprecaite th advice and im going to try that the next time i play |

Agressive Play
When you play agressive, you really have to be extra attentive.. Most ppl make the mistake of playing this style, but not educating themselves about the table. Another post stated pay attention to "position", the "types" of ppl at the table etc. These items of the game are critical to any poker player, but especially to the Agressive player.
There's agressive smart, and then there's aggressive stupid. Without the latter, poker players wouldn't make any money ![]() Keep perfecting it friend! |

Keep the faith. If you have a bad beat, or someone gets lucky, shrug it off. Don't let it affect your play. You gotta keep your head in a tourney. Play the odds and play smart and eventually you'll come out ahead. You might just be having a bad luck streak. They come and go like the wind my friend.

It really sucks when your aggersive with pkt JJ and all you see on the flop are over cards, so you stay in looking for a chance of a str8 or a set and all you get is a pair JJ's and end up losing to QQ or I like this one 2-7.
Why must people be fools and call a large raise with 2-7's pre-flop? |

Are you being aggresive with hands that are meant to be aggressive with? Are you just betting a top pair with a weak kicker or something like that. Play tighter, you always want to allow yourself two ways of making your hand preflop.(unless pairs) but talking about drawing hands like straight connecters you want them to be suited preflop so you can make your hand more then one way. Unless like Big slick. And watch the board after the flop because if somebody has a straight or flush draw they are going to call it down pretty much no matter what. I know what Im trying to say but cant really type it all that well. If you maybe pm me and I will try and get it to where it would be more understanable. This is kinda of a starting point anyways.
Weak players tend to play anything for what its worth all the way to the end and keep telling themselve's storie's when they lose to make them selves feel better about the call. And play the what if game too much. Dont be like that and forget hands in the past. Remember how you played them wrong but dont dwell on lost pots because you didn't call and don't sit there and think of bad beats. Its to frustrating and you think to much then and at that point you are giving away to much info. Last edited by jde_07 : 12-04-2005 at 2:04 AM. |

It is always good to play aggresive but ya gotta know when to fold. When in doubt...just fold. Why go all in and lose when you can just fold and forget bout it. Move on and keep playin ur strategy and don't be like alot of peoople and go...."Just lost a big hand....ALL IN CUZ IM PISSED". That gets me angry when I see that. But then I call him with rockets and its all the sweeter.

No I now know that my purpose in life is to donate my chips to hesh. All praise be to hesh the one who hit EVERYTHING possible against me in omaha. When I say everything EVERYTHING fell for him against me.
I will remember in the future to just simply dump my chips to you! As you would just pull them out of your arse anyway ![]() |

I am the same way. I sometimes hate playing online because I tend to "overplay" and become inpatient. I consider myself average to slightly above average when I play smart, but I am flat terrible when I get too aggressive. Aggressive play wins big for a while, but loses bigger. But, if you want to win big, don't give up the nuts.

If you have JJ and all over cards (A, K, Q) come on the flop and you are staying in to make a set...you are the fool my friend Quote:
are you being semi-aggressive? this is my style of aggressive play if you raise preflop...and you believe you still have best hand after just raise 2/3's of pot....if callers then you must figured out what they could be drawing at and if the turn brings nothing for them...fire another 2/3's of pot in there, this will "usually" get the under pairs and low flush draws out, maybe even TPWK's ....and if no one is raising you, throw another 1/2 pot bet after the river. so many times if you just bet again after the river most players dont believe you coulda been betting all the way with nothing and muck their hands or you kick yourself because your A high got beat by a pair of twos...if only you woulda fired another bet...he probably woulda folded his pair 2 after missing his draw/flush draw after river...try it Last edited by bpazjr13 : 20-04-2005 at 4:51 PM. Don't ignore the other players either when you get a great hand. Their's could be better. Pay attention to how they play. And if you're going to bluff, timing is everything. That's the part of it I haven't gotten good at yet. Sometimes, like last nite for instance, I'll make a bluff and then right after be like crap! That was the most obvious bluff ever! The guy read me well and reraised, something I couldn't call. I had A-K but missed the flop. Unfortunately, even if he didn't have anything my bad bluff let him win. Pay attention to things like that, but don't let them get to you. There's always the next hand.

thats why you need to raise...say 3x BB with AK or strong hands and then raise the same with a hand you would never play or maybe even low connectors just to change it up and keep them thinkin..
sometimes it pays to pay...if you know what i mean |

Trust your gut
I always go with my gut feeling. There's been times when I've layed down low pair (pocket 2's) and a 2 came up on the flop. In my mind I'm thinking (WHY DID I DO THAT?), but my gut feeling was vindicated when someone had a A-5 straight. The more you try to analyze this game, the more you begin to second-guess every decision you make. My "gut feeling" has yet to mislead me
