Eliminating Chasers

This may sound stupid but it has been bugging me a lot, how do you keep people from chasing and calling with just about anything? Seems no matter how much you bet some idget always chases. It is quite frustrating

Change your mindset.

They will pay you back in the long run. That doesn't much easy the pain, but that's the best I can do. Chasers and the like are how you will make money from this game.

Chasers are part and parcel of poker. No matter what limit you play there will always be chasers,i find it quite literally amazing what hands people will chase with. I have experienced some of worst beats off them but also some of my best wins too,i know when it happens you really want to jump through your screen and kill them but count to 10 and just start again...some guy sucked out on me and thought he was god until i cleaned him out for all his money! Poker is full of peaks and troughs...ride it out.

they will not stop when you get better. having more bad beats put on you is a testament to you being a good player- you will simply get the money in with the best of it more often than a player of lesser caliber.
but when you become better, chasers will not bother you as much because you understand expected value, and take comfort in knowing you made the correct play.

Thanks guys. Yes you really do wanna jump through the screen and throttle them..lol My fiancee can attest to me about doing that one especially getting beat by a 10/3 offsuit.

I know exactly what you mean but in the beginning I admit I was a chaser thinking I can catch anything. I quickly learned my lesson. Sometimes I find myself in that same situation where I only need that one card and I almost have to flip a coin to decide to call or fold. Depends on how much I'm calling for of course. If someone is trying to get me to go all-in then forget it, I'm tossing those cards.

When I think about it I guess it just depends on the situation and position.

il ike to think that most decent players know when its right to chase and when its not. everyone has to do it its in their nature to hold out for the best hand, otherwise you couldn't explain lotto. but i also use chasing to my advantage. bet bet bet, flop hits you bet, turn misses the catch bet, and if the river hits you bail. by then its like free money. against good players pricing is important so nolimit is easier to squash the chase.

Why would you want to. The idea is not to scare them away, but to force them to make a mistake. A chaser is by definition at a statistical disadvantage but there are many reasons why even good player might take overtly uneccesary risks in persuing an out; favorable pot odds, small chip stack and rising blinds, large stack and a chance to knock out a player all come to mind.

This is correct,four dogs is rite,there are only 4 or 5 reasons to chase, other than that, if you got crap, Fold is my motto. If i`ve folded 20 hands in a row i might chase 1 hand just to play if its cheap to get in so i dont get bored. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> buckster436

Actually, the most appropriate and successful way to eliminate chasers is with a .357 Magnum at close range. Other than that, they're just another part of the game. And to be honest, we are all chasers from time to time ourselves...

In cash games, I love those calling stations. They just keep building the pots. I have
the patience to wait for a hand worth playing and slow play usually traps these guys.

Like Irish said, they're a part of the game and their money spends just as well as anyone
else's. Sadly, they usually run out too soon.

In the SB I'll sometimes call with crap just to mix up my play style. And relieve the
boredom.

I also love young guns who straddle. They really build a pot, quick. And rarely hit.

I love chasers! Especially a beer one.

I love them, imidiatly as i have manage to locate them I begin make ther play for a few hands after that I will wait, they think thay know every think so they are realy easy meat

I dont like chasers. yeah i know they will pay in the long run but for me it never happens. i flop the nuts and raise reraise rereraise when it occurs and usually lose to runner runner.

Chasing every now and then relieves the boredom when the hands are not coming. I think the people worse than that are the all in merchants. they usually go allin in with 2-7 off suit and win but its nearly always when I have a half decent hand that is not quite good enough (in my opinion) to follow it through.

It really tickles me though after they have been all in about 10-15 times eventually get busted and have the cheek to call the other player for not being able to play properly and being lucky.

If everyone played the same way or if the game was easy it would become boring.

Just remember when you are playing your hand that if there is a hand that could possibly beat it then it probably will.

Everyone knocks the online game saying that it turns up freak hands but just sit down with a deck of cards. Deal out 10 hands and the community cards, dont fold any and most times you will be surprised at which opening cards finally win the hand.

Thats what makes it interesting....It's not just about having the best hand at the start. It's finishing with the best one and sometimes what starts out as a bluff ends up with the nuts.

chasers are my fav to play against ...cuz when I have the nuts nothing I hate more then for everyone to fold...its nice to know you have a live breathing atm right at your table...and if you have a couple even better ....when playing a chaser youdont have to guess what they have just have a solid and ...its the tight player you have to watch...

StackThemUp I totally agree with you on this! Called one the other night and he had went all in,just got fed up at this time. Pair's came out A's K's and my pair of Q's I thought OH sugar but ended up with 3-Q's and beat them both! I know any other time they pull that I would back off,but they felt good,but I could have just as well lost and it would have been my own bad judgement.

Okay, good example of a chaser. I'm holding AK suited, BIG RAISE before flop, everyone drops out except player to my right. Flop comes down 3c,Kh,Qd, I put in another BIG RAISE. Get called again. Turn comes down 4c, Maybe I should have checked her but instead I put in another BIG RAISE, get called again. River comes down. Maybe I shouldn't have but I went all in. Got called and was the player was holding a Qh, 9d. Can you guess what the river was? BINGO! 9h. I don't know why I let it get the best of me but I thought I had the best hand and this player just chased it down to the River and put me out of the game. Any thoughts?
