pending on the table type, if they was loose. i might have raised pre-flop just to see if could get an extra read off the remaining players. these guys all say to just limp in , but i try to get the most information as i can before entering a pot. the more chips some has in a pot the more likely they will play it out. so you might have been able to tripple up instead of doubling, since it looks like you was early in tourny. but all likely you just got lucky he hit his 2 on the river. or you woulnt of gotten much if it didnt.
