Fold pre-flop. Against this particular player I don't mind the 3bet on the flop, but this is a rare exception because with these stack sizes even against most calling stations I don't see the need to risk scaring them away with a flop 3bet but if he'll call with worse, go for it. Turn, shove is standard. Stacks are going in unless they have absolute air (and he shouldn't have air here). 67 isn't in his range, or at least, it's no more in his range than other random junk. He shouldn't call the flop with it. This is a bad beat and it's sick when they play it like this and it gets there but it happens and you've got to play for stacks. I don't like the way you played pre-flop and I think the flop is questionable but the turn is standard, imo.

I agree with everything you done here, except I would have raised PF. Saying that you are in early pos, i probably would have folded. Pretty unlucky though, but I agree with the flop 3-bet as you did have the best hand here. Also agree with the shove on the turn.

I'm taking the question in the title at face value, that we're looking at whether the play was correct. I'm confused by your post that "It was a limped pot..." - from the HH, it looks like you open limp A8s from UTG+1? If so, that's definitely not standard - folding that hand from that position is standard. Betting and 3betting the flop are both standard, might want to 3bet bigger but meh. The only way the turn helps Villain is if he specifically holds 76, there's no way to narrow his range to that holding - shoving is standard. When asking if hands are played correctly, pls don't post the results - once you shove the turn, nothing after that action should appear in the opening post, it's irrelevant whether he called your shove and irrelevant what he actually had. We'll see the same flop actions w flush draws, pairs, worse two pairs, sets, etc. - the fact he turns a straight isn't really important in the long run. Since you did show the results, this is clearly a bad beat and really should go in that forum - but like I say, I'm taking the question in the title literally and not moving the thread there.

I didn't really consider this a bad beat that's why i post it here was just wondering if i played it badly thats why i lost such a huge pot.Even if i had raised pre flop he was calling i'm 100% sure of that and other than he everyone was playing tight so they were out if i had raised.

If he calls then you have a better idea what kind of hands he has. You don't need to play A8, and if you do everyone folding is often the best result since your top pair is not super great. It is kind of a bad beat. We have two forums that this could go into: 1) bad beats. 2) hand analysis. This isn't really either of those. In what regard are you concerned about playing it correctly? |

No you didn't play badly. I would've done the same. You had good odds of winning. He just sucked out. That was actually a fairly good hand. Although I wouldn't call that preflop if that flop came out i would've pushed. Thats too bad that you lost
