Determining button equities in no limit

Hi All,
very long time how are you all?

question: a tight/agg raises 5 times the blind from late middle. In a 100 blind game. What is the range with which you believe he makes this raise.
Also, from the button what range of hands are you willing to call his raise with?

What if the stacks are 200 blinds?
What if the stacks are 400 blinds?

Also, how does the above hand ranges change against a loose/agg?

Cool,

Bill H.

need more info then that, I dont think there are set hands im calling with. I have to know stack sizes and info on the individual players. Like im not calling any raise with junk just to knock some tight player out, like I wont call 1/10 of my stack and double up a good player I would like to be pretty sure im at least 40/60 against him to call if im anything under that I will pass let him take the blinds and wait for better spot.

I know you didnt ask about all in just making that point, at 5x I need to know what his starting stack size is. If this is from just a Lag style player I might see the flop with less then premium hands because the lag player will bet out the flop regardless of what texture it is or how bad it missed them. against a Tag type player im only calling with premium because he isn't going to make that bet unless he wants a call.

Stacks are expressed.
if you play 1/2 a 100 blind stack is 200 dollars, a 200 blind stack is 400,etc.
If you play 2/5 a 100 blind stack is 500 dollars, a 200 blind stack is
1000, etc.

Tight/agg ranges are a part of my question. what do you believe a tight aggressive is raisng with for example: he raises 15.9 percent of hands. pairs down to x, suited connectors down to x or not at all, Ak and Aj suited or better.

The Lag will raise etc.

I am willing to call holding pairs down to x, suited A down to

etc. The raise is five times the blind if you play 2/5 he raises 25 dollars.

Thanks

Bill H.

Nice to see you back, Bill. Lookin forward to some more insightful posts

If we're following gap theory here (which applies perfectly to TAG players), then we can only call with a hand stronger than what the raiser would raise with from that position. So we would need a pretty strong hand here to call, but since we're so deepstacked, we have huge implied odds if we hit with a lesser hands.

So I personally will call this only with AKs, big pairs JJ+, but will also toss in suited connectors in case we can stack him postflop.

Yes and no Chuck, the smaller the stacks the more what you say is true.

As the stack sizes increase the more we should be calling with weaker holdings., our implied odds start to rocket. In the second example id call with all pairs, all suited connectors, and perhaps AK, even though id rather re-raise here than call. Id be less inclined to play other A-x hands as the likelyhood of being dominated increases, once the ace is suited tho, id call with A-2s.

Or at least id like to think i would.

the more deepstacked we are, the more i open up my calling range. with suited connecters i might even 'light 3-bet'
