A confusing session - too much aggression? I just finished a session that has me puzzled. I was at a 2NL FR table for about an hour, played 54 hands, won .60, and never had a showdown. I was following fx's strategy, though I did play two hands outside that (K7s on the button and KJs late MP) and I was VP: 25/PF: 21/AF:71. I played 17 hands (I'm not counting blinds I folded) and won 13 of them. One blind went to the river, but the villain folded when I bet .02 just out of curiosity. Not one of the other hands even got to the river. Is c-betting that powerful? It did seem most of the players were tight/passive but still ... I've never seen this happen before. Was I being too aggressive perhaps? I was entering with 3BB + 1BB per limper and never bet more than 1/2 pot on the flop, though I did reraise a bet on a Qxx board with KK, which was probably a mistake 'cause he folded. I'm not so much complaining - because I obviously didn't HIT 13 of 17 hands - but I didn't get any play when I did hit. I was playing more than usual - my usual VP is about 14 - but I was getting the hands to play. Just a weird coincidence or should I start checking some on the flop with monsters?

Just as long as I wasn't being too literal in my interpretation of the strategy ... it was kind of getting amusing betting and watching the folds though, and I kept expecting someone to reraise out of frustration if nothing else. Ah well, and I had such good hands too ... back to the Real World of having my AA cracked by 72o (tongue in cheek)

I would have loved a table like that yesterday, nobody would fold, 3 bets were flying everywhichway. Sounds like your playing pretty good to me. Checking with a monster works if your sure the other guy will bet, if he has been very aggressive, then sometimes getting him to bet isn't that bad an idea. But I agree in general you still want to bet your good hands.

54 hands in an hour? Don't you get bored? I think I play 54 hands in about 3 minutes. Cbetting is awesome. I bet more than 50% of pot, but if 50% is working for you then stick with it I suppose! I bet 2/3 pot and I think my cbet success is something like 55%. Last edited by Wes747 : 7th April 2011 at 9:48 PM. Reason: decided to add some content to the post...
