Do you play Full Ring or 6max?? If you play Tight then you want loose tables with big average pot sizes. Then just patiently wait for a big hand and bet hard every street. |

| I sort by players seeing flop, then choose the highest usually aiming for 30+ or 25+ if there's none of them (but at 2nl theres loads above 30) and as high of a pot size as i can. Also when you play for a while you can colour code opponents so i try to stay away from tables with 4 or more reds or oranges (these are the tighter players for me) and i look for the tables with the greens and yellows (the looser players) This is just being picky but a tight aggressive like myself is looking for loose players so it makes sense. Of course i will join a table with 4 or 5 tight players if theres a couple of loose donkeys looking to lose their stacks. Also its a good idea to keep an eye on your tables cause they will gradually fall to like 10 percent seeing the flop with small av. pots, this is the time to leave and look for some more fishies. |

| IMO seat selection is far more important. For the most part atleast, a game of poker is so dyanmic that if you try to always be (queuing) at the best loosest tables you'd never get any betting done; any table you sit at will probably be mediocre within 10 minutes anyway. Doesn't matter how loose the table is overall if you have fish to your left and nits to your right. Its just going to suck being there! I generally also like to have the best player (well, second best!) directly opposite me and out of my way. I just auto seat at 2 random tables of 5 and maybe start a couple tables going and wait for the fish to come. Within a few orbits I will evaluate my seats and perhaps close the worst and start a new table. Works for me. Never join a single player at a 6-max table. He is sure to be a reg with the same idea! Or atleast more likely to be one. Last edited by Deceitful_Frank : 16th February 2011 at 2:58 PM. |

| re: choosing 2NL games? poker Ok so when I said table selection at 2NL I had a good reason for it. The reason I think it's "lol" is that if you're playing 2NL you have alot bigger problems than worrying about how to best table select. I understand table selection is an important skill, but really it should not be your biggest concern until you get to higher limits. For one thing, basically every player at 2NL is a fish so there really is no "tough tables". So my suggestion for anyone at 2NL" 1. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! - Analyze your hands, analyze different situations that come up frequently, and focus on getting good at teh pokerz. Because even if you are a great table selector, if you suck at poker it really doesn't matter once you get to higher limits. 2. Forget table selecting, just fire up a bunch of tables and win MONEY! - Your goal for 2NL should be getting out of there FAST! I see people on this forum grinding like 200k hands at 2NL and I'm like WTF! 3. ........... Ok so in summary.... [x] Study hard so you can get out of 2NL fast [ ] Table selecting is important at 2NL [x] 2NL is easy and a monkey could probably beat it One last note....As Frank said, IF you are table selecting (at higher limits) your position relative to certain players is much more important than table averages etc. |

| Yeah here is more pressing issues than table selecting but if you're not taking 2 minutes to choose the loosest most profitable tables then youre missing out on money plain and simple, dont tell me there isnt any tables at 2nl with like less than 10 percent players seeing the flop and average pots of 10 cents, cause there just is and you dont wanna be in a table full of nits trying to clear their bonuses and get rakeback. |

| i dont know but i know but i know theres plenty of players who play millions of hands at 5nl for rakeback on stars... either way the point is there is still nitty players at 2nl and table selecting to be on looser tables is +EV. Im not arguing im just saying that doing something to help your game is always good yeh? especially if it involved clicking the sort players by percentage seeing flop button and not just joining tables totally randomly. each to their own i suppose. |

| re: choosing 2NL games? poker i usually select the tables with higher ave pots for 2nl. 30c at least with 7 or higher no of players. euro tables also is what i prefer, notice a lot of fishes throw away their money with top pair low kickers... lol |

I'll agree with that. I moved over to 6 max from full ring and that is one thing I've noticed. I rarely end up in a fight for the pot with more that one villain. |

| I concerntrate on the players per flop. I have found that the tables that have a high % of players seeing the flop, the more fish there are. Plus I calculate the amount of hands per hour being played, this can be an indication of how many players are seeing the hands through to a showdown. Average pot ... If there are a lot of players seeing the flop, then I have to bring that into consideration. This will determine how big the pots are going to be, even before I open the table. |
