check raising

is check raising the best way to get more money in the pot? I think not. I belive if you floped the nutz you should always come out betting dont bet to big just enough so you get callers cause if you check raise your going to be scaring the people out. I belive getting four people to call a 50 dollar bet is better than only one person calling a two hundred dollar re raise cause on the next round of betting youll get another chance to get them all to pay

depneds you have to know the players in the pot with you. for example if you know the person to the right is goin to bet no matter what just chek and call it because some people out there wil try to go al in and pick up the pot in the turn and the river. If you think he is on a draw make him pay to beat you even tho hes drawing deadusualy people will pay alot to catch there flush if they floped a four flush or a opended staright.

im really not a very big fan of check raising. I will do it once in a while but i find that if you are aggressive from the start, you have the best chance of winning.

i suppose when u check raise, u are really trying to set up a trap. sometimes it works. and sometimes it doesnt. you must really know ur opponent

Check raising is effective only when you know what type of opponent you are playing against. If a player recognizes that a check-raise indicates strength, you may be able to get away with a check-raise bluff once in a while. If the player is oblivious to check-raising, you might as well do it if he keeps calling you when you are obviously showing strength.

re: check raising poker

To me a check raise is used to find out hand strength . Are they just making a stab at it or are they serious. Or I would do it on the river to someone betting into me the whole time when I know I have the best hand.

i mix up my play, one hand with the nuts i might have some sort of a feeling and bet a large amount, another hand i might bet the minimum, another hand i might check raise, i go with my instincts

Check Raising is like a slap in the face, I love it! In a limit game it is a skill that you must master, for a variety of reasons.

This is what I recommend ... If you have the nutz or a powerful hand check raise on the turn, you will get more money in the long run this way, then check raising after the flop.

Check raising can also be used to save money. For example, on the flop you might have some kind of draw. I recommend you check raise on the first betting opportunity (the flop) as a scare option. What usually happens if your opponent is not strong, is that your opponent will check the rest of the way or even fold. This allows you to see the turn and river for free.

Check raising in a no limit game is more complicated and I would only do it if I had the nutz.

check raising is not only a good way to build the pot, but it also to test the strength of your opponent. if they bet after you check and you sense weakness, check raise them to see how strong they really are

I love check raising, i think is a great play if you know when to do it. I use a lot of check reaising, but it depends of the situation.

I strongly believe in check-raising. You appear to have a weak hand. Plus....you're opponent already made a bet so raising a little bit and they will almost always call.

re: check raising poker

its depends of alot of variants - the profile others players have of u - what the ppl who raise got - if u check or bet in the next card - if u bet or call in the preflop - n if u really got hte nuts or there is a probavility of other hand beat u or a save card on the river give ur opponent the hand

I like to check raise to get money but I spose it COULD be better if u just bet a little bit to get every one to call.

i love check raising

check raising is great and it always confuses the player, sometimes you can get them to fold when you are bluffing and other times you can get more money in the pot or you can see free cards becuase they arent sure what you have and they are afraid to call you

I check raise on a strong hand w/ junk cards. If you pair up or better on high cards then I say play aggressive.
If your 2 5 turned into a straight w/ an ace on the board, then the check raise should work because people just seem to hate throwing away top pair.

ahhh check raising

Well you really only should be doing that when you have a strangle lock on a hand. Check-raising is really best left to hands like 2 pair or better. Even some of them can be beaten as is. I know I do it when I feel I can make it work, otherwise leave well enough alone and bet.

i agree that check raising can be a disadvantage, but if u are playing heads up or against just one person than i believe that it is better to check rasie them

re: check raising poker

But I never check raise unless I am prepared to reraise if it comes back raised again.

Check raises are for hands where you have an 80% + shot of taking a pot in my opinion... basically I'm bearish in my play and I say this of every hand I ever play. The reality is this... if you aren't willing to push your hand to the max each and every betting round, then it's a maybe not a winner. If you've got 2 pair at the end of the deal in stud, the best available alternative is a check bet.. this holds true for check raising as well.

When in doubt.. don't pay more than you have to UNLESS you've got outs galore... but then it's not all that much in doubt now is it?

Check raises are seen by some as morally reprehensible... they say it is "low" to do... as for me I say if a rabbit is willing to walk into the coyote's jaws then maybe he was meant to be dinner anyway.

Just my 2 bits,

J. Rabbit

Check raising has always worked good for me. That is probably because I play with agressive players.

i am a fan of check raising...but as in anything there is a time and a place for everything...you should procede with caution because a mistimed checkraise will get you alot of folds instead of that big payoff you are looking for once you are comfortable with your read on the players at the table check raising can be very profitable

check raiseing can also be very costly most of the time depending on your hand i rather just take the money and not allow the other person to catch any bs hand

That works but you might want to switch up your game every once in a while and do a checkraise. Your opponent will probably just think you are bluffing then.
