Cash games.. AQ/AJ types hands from EP. Just wondering what the general consensus out there is and if anyone has any thoughts on this. What do you generally do with AQ/AJ from EP? If it depends, what does it depend on? Would you do one thing at 6max and one thing at FR? What about something like JQs? Just wondering what the preflop decisions generally are among people here and trying to get a bit of discussion going.

AT+,22,JTs+,KQo. FR UTG. AQ+,22+. Im never really sure about AJs, AJo is muck most of the times(might open if i where at a very juicy table) but AJs seems to be a fringe hand for me. |

FR i usually open w/ AQ, AJ is tricky indeed, 6 max def, FR it depends on how tightly the table is playing. as far JQs in EP, insta fold along w/ others such as QKo or KJs opening w/ 56 - 89 s in EP can be fun if youve built up a good table img

I raise like, stuff. 6-max of course. It mostly depends on who has position on me, and who's in the blinds. And it depends on like a trillion things. Even against a light 3-bettors on the button I'll open stuff like A5s/89s/ATo UTG with the intention of 4-betting just because UTG 4-bets just get so much respect. The more players with position on me like to mess with me postflop, the less inclined I am to open weak off-suit broadway hands/suited connectors that don't hit flops particularly well (KJo, QJo, 56s, ect.).

in a full ring game with AQ you should raise a standard 3 bet, and with AJ maybe you could just limp and see your opponents play.. i already know that limping shows weakness however aj is a strong hand... UTG is the worst position however i dont think it will be profitable for you to fold such a good hand like aj without seeing the flop... just my opinion...

re: Cash games.. AQ/AJ types hands from EP. poker Cool...got some responses..more or less what I was expecting.. I was wanting this to be more of a survey type thread just to get a variety of responses just to get a gauge on what people are typically doing. Personally I tend to muck AJ or AQ most of the time (I'm talking FR and from either UTG or UTG+1). At certain, unusual tables I will sometimes play it if it's suited but very rarely and only if i think there's a fish I can exploit even from oop. (this also requires the rest of the table to be such that I think I can get heads up with the fish somewhat often..so this situation is rare) One thing that prompted the question though was that I know some good players, particularly the more aggressive variety, do open these hands UTG and looser sometimes even at FR (BW for example was doing it on the vid he released recently). I'm rambling right now and will come back with some more thoughts later but I was just looking to gauge responses and then possibly talk about it from more of a why/why not standpoint later.
