Cash Game Tilt. I suppose it happens to us all at some stage. Usually happens to me a couple of times a month and it really damages my win rate. Before yesterday I'd had a very nice week indeed, winning in the region of 15 buy ins. Then yesterday I couldn't win a hand no matter what. By the end of the day I'd lost just over 3 buy ins. My question to you cash game guysi s, How many buy ins do you have to lose in a day before you say enough's enough? Last edited by Jagsti : 21st August 2007 at 10:14 AM.

A few. It depends how I'm playing. If I feel like I'm just getting unlucky than I usually stop after 1 or 2. But if I'm playing solid poker and I know where my mistake was than I usually play a few more. If I ever lose 25% of my bankroll in a day than I am done. I don't care if I'm playing well or not, thats a lot to lose and I just need time away from my game. Usually if I'm doing bad on one site I'll go to another site that I have money on. To me when I lose it doesn't bother me as much as it would bother other people. I don't deposit online and have built bankrolls from freerolls alone so the money isn't as painful to lose even though I don't like to lose. Good luck at your tables

I find the most damaging thing after losing a buy-in or two is continuing to play and trying to 'break-even' for the day. This causes me to play long hours, lose my mental clarity and puts big holes in my bankroll. My biggest losses over the last month have come from long sessions trying to break even. I'm trying to place bounds around this behaivour, but it is sometimes not easy. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

re: Cash Game Tilt. poker The problem is not in continuing to play after you've lost x buy-ins it's in playing while being on tilt: a lot of players can play after losing a few buy-ins in order to win at the table they're seated at because they know they can beat the competition. If you go into break even mentality, just quit. You're not playing to win money anymore, you're playing to win YOUR money back, wich never happens anyway.
