Cash game- folding middle sets on dangerous boards The other day this hand came up at .5/1- all three players had about a 100 dollars. BBXX MyselfJJ Guy next to act-XX I raised, one guy behind called, and BB raised to 3x the original raise. Both I and the other guy called. Flop- AdKhJh BB checked, I checked, guy next to act raised, BB shoved all-in, I folded, and other guy called. BB had KK, other guy had AhQh The reason I post this is that I felt I made a horrible play by not folding preflop. The BB's small 3x raise (considering 3 people in the pot) was very suspicious, and I would have lost a lot of money if the guy behind me hadn't called, and flopped a monster draw.

Do you use a HUD? If so, Preflop What was his 3-bet range like? What made you suspicious about the size of his bet.. i.e. how would he normally play it? Lets look at how JJ compares to that 3-bet range using pokerstove That gives an indication of how well the preflop was played. Post flop.. well you folded bottom set not middle set.. With two higher sets, a possible straight and a possible flush draw on bottom set dosnt seem worth stacking off for.. middle set maybe.. top set always!!

poker stove is a program which allows you to look at the equity of your preflop cards in relation to your opponents range. i.e. JJ is increadbly strong against a loose player but less strong against a NIT you can get it wfrom here http://www.pokerstove.com/ You will want to be using a HUD like pokertracker 3 or Holdem Manager in order to get a more accurate picture of your opponents range.

he might had the low set but the BB had the mid set so it was a good fold also one guy had top pair with a gut shot for the nut straight. you had a good hand the guy with ace queen probably should have fold b4 ya. also preflop BB could've tried to make a play at the pot "squeeze play" so calling it isnt a terrible thing.
