Card dead?

When you're card dead.. are you better off hanging around picking up the small pot every now and then? If you move to another table, do you actually have a chance to start picking up cards? I've always read/heard that one of the benefits of playing online, is if you don't like the table, you can pick a new one. But will it actually help, or just give you another set of players to learn?

No. The cards are random, you can get dealt random hands on one table or random hands on another.

If you're getting card dead (i.e. spending a lot of time folding), maybe open up another table and play both.

doyle brunson made a good quote that i always live by when playing poker. "when luck shuts the door on you, its time to come through the door with skill. thats poker folks"

I’d like to see Doyle try his hand at microstakes and make his way through with skill when he’s card dead. When card dead, a good thing to do is just to shut off the program. Do nothing else for an hour then get back at them.

You are only card dead if they see your hand.

Just steal more from the button. Make a couple squeezes. More often than not, I 3 bet on the button and take the pot down with a cbet. I do this with good hands but they are folding anyway so you can do this with any two. Of course I've also seen that I can sit there for 30 hands without picking up a hand and I can get paid off against the right donkey.

That also is very true? Yet here's the problem with that Case, what if your on an Aggressive Table? That call most things down light? Then what?

Then that K2o might not be as bad as you thought.

Also, pay attention to your table image.

At a live game, don't play a lot of hands. Then when you do play a hand (say you decide to play 74o) in position, you raise and get a couple calls, the other players think you're tight. The flop comes a bunch of mid cards but miss you, say you pick up a gutshot straight draw. Bet it like you have top pair and you're trying to protect, or an overpair. If you get raised, think long and hard (act like you're thinking, your decision may be already made up...) Also just because you are raised by a loose aggro person doesn't mean you're behind. It could be the player is bluffing and has you on a hand like AK that missed. You could always re-raise to see if you can get him to lay down, but 3-betting with air doesn't work against pot commited opponents, nor does it work on opponents that haven't noticed you haven't played many hands lately, not does it work against opponents that connect big with the flop, or have the hand you represent.

Online, if you get raised, take your time and act like you believe your opponent even if they caught you bluffing. Instead of showing your cards, muck them. If you get check/called on various streets, that's tough, because that can put you in a spot. I like barreling my bluffs but I get confused when I get floated by an unkown.
