The Button

The button is the best position you can have at the table, however I always tend to give it up too easily. What are the hands you should try something with and what hands should you fold even if you're on the button ?

If you have two tight nits in the blinds and it is folded to you, raise every time.

Well...If it's folded to you raise pretty much with anything unless you are short... Any suited, connectors, many Aces... I love to raise with hands like 47s and hit trips, usually pays off big

The benefit of the button is that you get to see a full round of betting before you have to act, it does not entitle you to the pot

I would generally open raise with any pair, Ax, Kx, Qs down to Q6 and suited connectors down to 87. It is important to not get into a patter so I would occasionally limp with medium pairs and sometimes even with premium pairs.

I think people loosen up their calling requiremets too much on the button. I would only add some low medium pairs and maybe a couple of gapped connectors to my calling requirements.

re: The Button poker

it really depends on the situation (relative chip stack, tournament stage, action)... but generally speaking if you see a lot of action before it gets to you.. say a raise and a re raise... just fold it unless you have a monster hand... dont play the hand just because you're on the button.. at the end of the day you play the hand not the position

But say that theres relatively no action... maybe 1 caller... you should probably pop it up if the blinds are tight players... in that case if its folded you pick up a nice pot and if you get called your still last to act on the flop which is the best situation.... but if you have aggresive players i wouldnt raise with a junk hand.. raise with a good hand but dont call.. you'll just get raised by the aggresive player... unless you have aces and you re raise to trap.

Indeed, the button is the best position post-flop. A great advantage in poker is giving away as little information as possible to your opponents. Being the last to act, those before you cannot see what you are going to do (unless they have a tell on you that you are itching to raise) and they have to act accordingly.

Its always a good thing to raise once and a while with nothing on the button, espcially in a tournament game. This can scare off potentially dangerous opponents, and the other players usually won't have a clue if you have something or if you are doing one of the usual bluffs on the button preflop that happen from time to time. Good luck at the tables .

Play with the button depends how is ur chip stack. If u have big stack raise a lot of hands because u is the last guy to talk and u can try to bluff. Gl

My thoughts on the matter are simple. As is the case with many questions referring to poker, it depends on a great deal on many variables. Many of these have been covered by others. So let me just say this. It very much depends on your game plan, what kind of game you are playing overall, and what you are trying represent. Very generally though, I like to mix it up, not be too predictable. Good luck all.

Good advice guys, but I have another question when I make this sort of play sometimes I get a caller and when I make a c-bet they don't go away. So I was wondering do you keep firing bullets or do you check the hand down ?

Again, I think. it very much depends on many things, the other player in the hand, how they have been playing. And of course what kind of cards are showing. How many different hands are possible, and do you have a realistic chance of hitting something and winning. Just to name a few. There are always a good many of variables in every situation, so just try to consider them all in making your decision. Bet wisely.

the button is the best place the table in my opinion too.

if nobody bet until the turn, you have the chance

to put pressure on the small blind and big blind independent

to have letters or not .... but if you have better chances of good letter

bet 2 or 3 times the blind ... AK, AQ, AJ, AX I bet on top

increasing 2 or 3 times, depending on the circumstances only paid

and many are playing.

the button is the best position in poker and you could take advantaje of it... if there arent more than 2 callers in the pot and if you are an averige hand like 87 suit or 65 you could raise 2bb trying to steal the blinds of the sb and bb. however with a terrible hand you should fold because you dont know your opponents cards and althought you are in the best position you could lose too many chips by raising with nothing.

Also, on the button with a big stack allows you to raise in 2xBB-3xBB with low pairs, connectors, or suited, letting you steal a lot more than the blinds if you hit, with no real downside.

if there's a limper or multiple limpers, your range should tighten up accordingly, if there are no limpers than you should open with an extremely wide range. THen you have to take into account how the blinds have reacted to late position ranges, etc
