I'm guessing if you google BRM you'll find information for Limit, NL, tournaments, cash games, etc. I know that with limit it's a certain number of big bets, but I couldn't tell you the number. I'd imagine it somewhere less than for NL, because even if you cap a pot on every street, we're still looking at a limit of - uh - 12 BBs from each player, as in NL you can stack off for 100+ BBs at any given time. I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will come along and answer your question, but the information should be available for your googling. >.>

I think 300BB is pretty standard. When I played LHE live, I'd usually by in for 30BB. I played in really loose games and am a very aggressive limit player. I hated having to re-buy so I didn't buy 10-20BB which was the standard buy in. If I lost it then it was time to do some serious thinking about calling it quits or changing tables. You can probably get away with a smaller bank at O8. Bankroll swings aren't that bad but session swings can be stressful.

Weregoat, I'm pretty sure he posted here instead of just searching Google because he wanted to discuss it and get advice. That's the point of the forum. Kmixer, here is a good article on bankroll management. Basically, there are three levels on BRM that it advises. 550BB would be a very strict, or Pro, bankroll for each limit. 400BB would be for a standard "Protected" bankroll. And 200BB would be for a risky "Unprotected" bankroll. Hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything explained a little more.

hamm is pretty spot on with his summary. I like the "kiddie game" post. All I'll tell ya, it's another game and the difference between the levels can be steep, especially live. I used to play in Tunica, MS before I moved to Florida and you can make a living playing limit live and there are regulars that do. There's a 10/20 game there that never stops and let met tell ya, the nuts are turned over more in that game at the river than I've ever seen in my life. I play it over NLHE and it's a different animal. I think you would be pretty safe if you had 350x the BB and were a solid TAG player. 300 is good too. Much less below that, you'll be playing with scared money eventually unless you already have a leather ass.

A hard fight to beat the rake at those stakes. BI's don't really matter. You either have enough to cap every street on this hand or you don't. You can buy in for $2 or $200. |

Here's a link to another take on the subject. Granted the levels that are being discussed are much higher, but it should give you some guide. Maniacs can be rewarded in this game and the shorter handed the table the more agro it's going to be. The swings can be on the dramatic side the higher you go. http://www.parttimepoker.com/dealing-with-maniacs-in-six-max-limit-hold-%e2%80%98em
