Big bets on AA pre flop I was in a WSOP freeroll recently, doing very well (for me), 4000 was down to 520 odd, I was still in with an above average 12,000 stack. I get AA, three player stay in, smallest goes all in, no worries I can cover the 4000, the next also goes all in with enough to cover all my chips. I go all in, reasonably confident. Small player has nothing, other player has QQ. Flops another Q. I lose. Damn. The question is, would anyone have played that differently? Or did I do it right and Lady Luck was on a break?

All-in on AA preflop The only thing that is better than that, is having AA hold up after the 5 cards are out there. You can make the right play and be unlucky. That's why the game is called poker. Just remember, it can't always go against you in that case.

Your call was correct. You HAVE to make this call if you expect to go anywhere in this tournament. There are still 540 PEOPLE LEFT!!! That's not even CLOSE to the prize pool cut-off. You need to build a big stack. Calling all-ins with AA is the best way I can think of doing this. On a sidenote...AA decreases in value against more than one player. Your win % goes way down if you play it against multiple opponents (if two people are in the hand against you its down to 55-60%)
