Better strategy short stacked This weekend I was in a $11 18 person sit -n- go. We were down to the final 5 and the tournament paid 4 spots. Villian 1 5,000 chips Villian 2 4,800 chips Villian 3 6,900 chips Me (small blind) 1,800 chips Villian 4 (Big Blind) 1,600 chips Blinds are 150/300. (and about to go up again) Everyone is folded to me and I'm holding A9. I push all in and am called with 6c 9c and he catches the 6 on the river to cripple me and then out of the money on a few hands later. My question is this.... Better to push allin Preflop or to just call, see the Flop and be the first to push in irregardless of the flop, let him think it hit me. Tell me what you think Thanks

I cant see anything wrong with pushing With Ax with 6BB left. TBH if he saw any knid of draw / possibility on the flop he would push too as he has only 5BB left. Only thing is why didnt he respect your push? It works better if you have maintained a tight image than a loose 'ill steal the blinds' image. Saying that to be called with 6 9s well thats a pretty poor call so I wouldnt worry too much there! (he may well have given up and decided to call .. not because of his hand but because there was the chance to double if a mirical flop came up)

re: Better strategy short stacked poker It was correct to push in that situation, but you also could have wait a little more to see if the other shortstack was eliminated and you could be in the money. You still had time before you have to put the blinds again. It's just a matter of choices. By the way the the villian calling you're bet with 69 was a terrible call.

NC_Royals, Remember also the inflection point from HOH, which gives good guidelines for your play in that situation |

re: Better strategy short stacked poker yea that is kinda lame he didnt respect your all in since hyall both were limited to hands to play with the amount of chips you had left..at the same time he was prolly just waiting for a decent hand to push and hope to get lucky since his trny life was very low..not a bad play i wouldnt have called you
