Bet,Check ?

Advice once again>>after flop you hit 2 pair you raise and get called is it best to stick with raising or check before 4th street? I've got good hand but want to play careful but don't want to show sign of weakness. If you bet once and cards our in your favor is it best to play it cool or what. I'm trying to say does it show weakness in hand if you don't stay in it and keep raising?

CHECK RAISE!!!

Actually, which two pair top two, bottom 2? What is your opponents tendencies? Is he loose, a bully, tight or super tight? How does your opponent perceive you? Does your opponent think you are tight, or loose?
Is the flop coordinated? is it threatening? Is there a flush draw, and a straight draw?

One thing I will say is this...When in doubt go ahead and raise.

I liked all of bills post exept for the last part, when in doubt raise ? I would prefer , when in doubt check and call, if you opponent bluffs you, you will win money from his bluff , and if he does make a strong hand, you wont losse as much. And if your opponent was calling to prevent you from bluffing and he has decided his gonna fold if you bet, you dont gain anything by betting anyways. Also shelyn , could you tell us what the board looked like, in hold em 2 pair is usually very very strong, and ahard hand to read

Top pair-bully-doesn't think women should be at tables(places should be kitchen etc). No chance of straight draw or flush thinks I'm a push over. Good advice from all. Thank you

Playing passively is how you lose hold'em. Two pair is a good hand, but it is not the sort of hand you want to let your opponents see additional cards for free with. There are times when you should check, but when in doubt raise.

Besides, if he did have a strong hand, why not raise him as opposed to having him raise you? If you make a raise and he re-raises you, you know he has a strong hand. But if you check and he raises you, it's going to be very unclear what you should do, unless he telegraphs with his bets. Maybe he has a strong hand, maybe he thinks you're showing weakness and he's trying to bluff you off the pot.

Shelynn,

Deciding between the different actions could be possibly close depending on the situation; preflop action, your position, are there more people in the pot, what's the texture of the board, etc. Flopping two pair is a great hand, but you could be in serious trouble if you flop two pair on a T-J-Q suited board with heavy preflop action.

In a general unbiased situation, raising would be a good bet here..

To be quite honest with you.. why risk checking and letting someone catch trips or better 2 pair etc... or maybe even a card to make a flush/straight draw which then gives them odds to call a turn bet for the river?

In my opinion.. if you have 2 pair.. just go on and bet... if theres a draw make sure the bets at least half the pot... if there's not then maybe smaller to milk them for more cash.. but remember, you don't want to let fish chase you!

ahh fish
