Best way to still make money when getting cold cards?
So i recently have been seeing that i may play too tight in cash games (usually play 2/2 NL, 100$ buy in max at the table) and when i get a cold run of cards, my stack seems to dwindle. Im not the best at reading people, and thats something im going to read up on next after im done with harrington on cash games.
Anyways, anyone have any advice i could use about this situation? Ive learned not to let myself go on tilt (even when my pocket kings got beat out by 10 7o yesterday). Any reading techniques, or bluffing strategies that you may use are appreciated. Thanks in advance ![]() |

sometimes your cards aren't as cold as you think. just because you're getting crap cards doesn't mean you should fold them, they have the same odds as hitting as does any other hand that isn't a pocket pair. so those cards can hit and when you're running cold, find your spots when the people who are being aggresive at the table fold. that's when it becomes easier if you're not so good at reading people. pick on tight players like yourself to pick up pots to keep you steady so that when you finally do get a hand you can get a good payoff from those aggressive players.

This is something I have also had a hard time adjusting too, and to think that someone else is going through the same situation is kinda funny (sry to hear though).
When I find myself in situations like this, that's when I really don't care more about my cards, as apposed to the image that I "Think", I have at the table at that time. Look at it like this, you stated when your on a bad streak, or are card dead you tighten up, well that's not really a bad thing, that's when you use your image at the tables to pull of bluffs, and still alot of pots, some small, others large, regardless it all depends on 2 things in the end, and that is, A) Your image at the table, are you playing like a rock? And the 2nd thing is, are the players your playing against smart enough, to forget about there cards, and actually think about yours? If you can say yes to both of these things, then I'd say your in for alot of pot stealing, bsing, and keeping afloat. In tournaments, when you're card dead, you have to force the action. In cash games, the blinds don't go up, so there's no good reason to open up your starting hand range just because you haven't played a hand in a while.
As for stealing blinds, if you're playing well, you should always be looking for those opportunities. They should not, however, depend on how well you've been running. Remember, the majority of players are simply not paying attention to the play at the table. Never overestimate the power of your table image. So if you're card dead, the best thing to do is... nothing. Keep playing a solid game, and wait for things to turn around. |

yep, stealing blinds is in my opinion one of the most important facts you should pay attention at.
I usually make myself respected at the table then my stack grows up in a matter of minutes. However pay attention to tight players... Someone beat me once (true... I was tired) going all in preflop... I called, he had AA and my K Q were beaten... Once more, play position and try to steal as many blinds as you can, possibly after having made a good table reputation. Good luck ! ![]() |

You'd be surprised how many times I've done this with the intention of just loosening up a bit and then either nailed a huge flop or picked up a big pocket within the next hand or two. ![]() |
