Best move and why?
Hypothetical situation, whats the best move here and why?
It's a 1/2 NL game live. Lets assume everyone has a stack of $200 for simplicity. Also that it's your typical loose 1/2 live game. UTG Raises to 6. CO calls You are on the button and call with Kh Th SB calls BB calls. Flop comes KKT rainbow, and it gets checked around. Turn is a 5 and it gets checked around. River is an 8, no flush possible. It checks around to the UTG who bets out $15. Whats your move and why? |

I'll be shocked if anyone puts in more chips, but I'd raise it up to $30.
I don't expect the SB or BB to have enough to call even the first $15, so I don't think I gain anything by flat calling. Ideally, UTG holds slightly less of a monster than I hold, and comes over the top of my min-reraise. It's most likely that everyone is going to fold, which I am ok with. If that happens, then I get the pot without having to show my hand. |

You have the nuts here! you can't be beaten. What is there to gain from simply calling? Its been checked around twice, you're either against a paired turn or river who is value betting OR against the case king that was slow playing. Worst case scenario is a split pot here. So you're either 1) going to call and win the current pot show your hand and give away information, 2) raise and win the current pot and muck your cards or 3) min raise and hope for a call or a reraise and win more money or 4) end up splitting.
In all the scenarios the ONLY real option is for a raise here. |

I would have put in small(ish) raises at the turn and river, but if it was like you say, then re-raise! Why ever just call when you have the absolute nuts? You are wasting a chance at free money and on top of it, giving away free info. Raise raise and then reraise...
Edit: just read what the other 2 guys wrote. Yeah what they said. ^^^ |

I'm min raising here also. Only sane chance to get him to refire at this. It likely he will fold to his steal attempt as it is, a big raise will surely drive him out, so a min raise to 30 might get him interested in a resteal attempt.

Played as your scenario dictates, I definitely raise here. First, I'd "Hollywood" it up a bit...take my time, look confused, like I'm really thinking it out. Try to make a smallish raise look like a steal attempt, and pray he has AK or AA. No way am I calling this down.
If he tries to reraise over the top of me, I may push, depending on the raise, etc. He's folding if he's trying to steal the pot, but a reraise from him probably means he's holding a premium as well, and hopefully he's hooked. |

his play screams he either has nothing, or he has the case king and was trying to check raise on the flop and turn. You're either going to win the pot uncontested or stack the guy. Either way raise is simply the ONLY answer.

I borrowed this hand from one of the books I'm reading.
The correct move is all-in, it has the highest expectation. Generally speaking, if the guy is going to call any bet at all, he'll also call an all in. |

I was going to say depending on the people im playing with I might consider all in here, just because a huge overbet like that would make it look like I am trying to buy the pot. Its not likely anyone will put more money into the pot unless they have a really good hand, in that case there going to call any amount.

I don't think this is one of those cases. If you min-raise here, it's a $15 call to try and win $60 (and they still might reraise you, we hope). If you push, you're expecting them to pay $155 for the chance to win $200. They are also facing the problem of either facing a rebuy or being out of the action for the night, both of which could be enough of a scare to make them fold, which we don't want.
