% of Bankroll to Play With?

I'm just wondering what's the best amount of your bankroll to play with?

I usually play 10-20% of my bankroll, is this too high or too low?

i think it comes down to what you can afford to lose.

Say we both had $50, if ur earning alot in your day to day job then you could play higher stakes knowing that u can just deposit some more money.However if u earn less, you may wanna make those $50 last, so u play at lower stakes, building ur BR slowly.

The generally excepted rule is that you should only be playing with 5% of your BR at any time, however if you are not worried about going broke and redepositing you can play higher stakes. Here is a good BR management article:

Yeah I suppose it does depend on how much you can afford.

chris ferguson says in his 0 to 10k quest that he doesnt buy in a sng for more than 5% of his br and no more han 2% for tourneys. i usually just use a 5% rule across the board because most of the tourney i play (with a 50ish dollar br) are 2 buck bounty's
