Bankroll Management

I was wondering at what point in a bankroll is a good time to do SnG's such as $5, $10 and so on? I always hear people saying keep good bankroll managment and also have seen people @ Poker Stars say "I'm almost at enough for $5 SnG's when they are playing 4 tables w/ $10+ at each (on the .05/.10 no limit).

Personally, I'd stay away from SnG's with buy-ins larger than 1/20th your bankroll.

IE: You have a $50 bankroll, keep your buy-ins under $3.

That covers your losses while still giving you a good chance at the 15-25% winrate that signifies a solid SnG player.

I speak from personal experience about bankroll management. If you don't stick to correct bankroll management you will go broke. You might win at first but soon your going to go broke. I would say 1/20th is a good figure but soon it may become too much of a grind so I might move up a level for a few sngs. However 1 bad game and I will move back down. Just something to keep the buzz of poker. Good luck

A good article in this thread. Personally, I don't think 20x the buy-in is nearly enough.

I will only risk 10% of my bankroll on any given sng. I find that I can cover my losses and it improves my game as I move up in skill level. My bankroll has been rising as I am in the money about 35% of the time. I like to play multi-table sng's too.

You want atleast 30-50 buy-ins at your current sit-and-go level or varrence can burry you. Yes sometimes you get on a hot streak and win 5 or 6 in a row but then just as quick you can lose 7-10 in a row becuase some nobs dumb luck or just a bad run of cards it happens in poker.

But good rule of thumb is 30-50 buy-ins at your current level and if your
trying to be a pro you want to have even more somewhere in the range of 100-300 buy-ins depends on your level of play and what type of style of play you are ? are you TAG or LAG that comes into play as well.

Anyhow good luck and Stars is a great place to be able to multi table sit-and-gos.

listen to donkeykiller, odds are if you playing higher stakes then you should be, and your bankroll starts to dwindle. you will begin to play downright awful making dumb calls and or steam on a bad beat. where as you have a fallback your going to play better more solid poker.
