Bankroll Advice

I've read plenty of articles on Bankroll Management but all they ever seem to cover is the basic guidelines. There is never any that go into detail about how to get the best out of your 5% per day, especially for those of us who have under $100. I had been doing well with my BR, I started on PokerStars with $50 just over a week ago and had built it up to over $160 within a few days. I managed that mainly from cash games plus the occasional SnG win thrown in, recently though I've been struggling in the cash games and my BR is down to $90.

I could easily deposit another $50 to get myself back on track but I don't want to do that. I'm willing and good enough to grind it out at the lower limits, I just need advice on how to get the best out of as little as $4.50 a day.

Can anyone point me in the direction of articles or threads here on CC that go into detail about building a BR from under $100?

I'd also like to here any thoughts or suggestions that you guys might have.

Cheers.

If you are struggling at cash games, play in some SnG's to get your game back on track. Also, if micro tables are available, play at those for a little while (I have tracked it, and I actually profit far greater from micro tables than .10/25). My personal recommendation is to play at the micro tables until you have the buy in for a SnG. Repeat the process until you are satisfied.

If its Stars your playing then to build a BR, id recommend the $1 45 player sit and go's. I built my initial roll from $50 to almost $200 before moving on, playing them games almost exclusively.

what buy-in do you play in at your cash game? what sngs table vs buy-in?

ever consider limit? I know every one hates it but it is just a math game and fairly easy to make money in.

same goes with low ppl sngs. its a boring(sitout) fest but ez to make money at.

good luck man i started with 25$ a year ago i know how it is, even more cuz i can't repost(not 21)

I think you mean 4.50 a session, or per game, because that's 5% of you BR right?
either way I think the safest way to build it up is through sit n gos, regardless what size your bankroll is. Also especially if you've been having trouble at the cash tables.

SnGs are the most consistent way of building your bankroll.

Oops, I totally forgot about this thread.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm going to combine a few of the suggestions on here. I'm going to grind out the buy-in for SnG's in the micro limit cash games. Instead of the $1 + $0.20 SnG's I'll be going for the $5 + $0.5 SnG's as I'm far more consistant in these. I'm starting back at $50 because I had to withdraw $50 last week. I started a new job about 2 months back and it pays monthly. I've only ever been paid weekly and I haven't quite adjusted yet which means i'm always a bit skint by the end of the month.

Starting back with my original $50 deposit will be a good thing. When I first deposited on Stars I went on a rush and moved up the levels too soon. I tripled my BR but when I started getting cold cards I lost money fast. Now I'm starting afresh and working at levels that BR can handle. In the cash games I mostly play at .01/.02 NLHE and .04/.08 Limit Stud, if I have a good day at those tables I'll sometimes step up and play at the .02/.05 NLHE tables. Today was one of those days, I started this morning with around $52 and after doubling my $2 buy-in on the .01/.02 NLHE tables i moved up to .02/.05 and left with around $12. The plan was just to play till I got to $55.50 so I had enough for a SnG buy-in but I played on and now have $61.96. I'll enter a $5 SnG and use the rest to enter $1 SnG's, maybe a low buy-in MTT.

I've also got about $38 on Bet365 which i built up from the $12 i had left on there. I plan to use my Bet365 BR to supplement my Stars BR, when that $38 gets to about $65/70 I'll transfer $50 to Stars, I'll then repeat the process.

Thanks again to everyone who responded.
