bad player? Hi, How do I know if I'm a bad player? I've done heaps of work on my game but, lately, all I seem to do is lose. My winrate was 14/bb, but now it is only 9/bb. I've attached my stats for you to see if there is anything I can fix, but tbh I dont know if I will ever be a good player. Any suggestions woul be great.thanks

I don't really do cash, but I think 9BB is a good return. Don't be so hard on yourself, look at your stats and hand histories to see if you have changed anything. If not then our old friend Variance is in the house. Play through it and you will be OK.

Win rates beat loss rates any day. I struggle at the cash tables and have become quite LAGgy lately myself. Its very entertaining, but I am currently on a slow loss rate. Last month I start almost $50 in the hole at 2/5 cent tables. Curbed my loss down to $12 at end of month which was covered by freeroll winnings. This month I started losing again these first few days and have had to tighten up. Only down $20 at this point for the month. My goal is positive in April. I know playing tighter helps me, but most of my losses have come from 3 all in hands (2 with KK vs AA post flop when the stinkin AA smooth calls my raise, and 1 where I hit my AK and got it all in versus a set of Kings. I'm such a donk sometimes). Good luck out there and keep up the good fight.

re: bad player? poker 6BB/100 hands is the winrate that most regs shoot for. If you're winning at 9BB/100 you're doing AWESOME. Yes of course there are people (even people from this forum) that win at 10+BB/100....but it is rare to sustain a winrate like that over a long period. Edit: Just opened the document with your stats in it. First thing I noticed was that right now you're 3 BI's above EV....so lady luck has been in your favor lately. Second thing I noticed was that you only have 7k hands. 7k hands is...well.....nothing. Its hard to analyze play over such a small sample size like that. It looks like you definitely understand the concept of position and 16/13 is pretty uptimal (sp?) at 25NL. I play a little tighter than that, but I don't see anything wrong with 16/13. Whats your aggression factor? Last edited by Wes747 : 5th April 2010 at 4:21 PM. Reason: Read the attachment

Stats look pretty solid to me, even though it's only over 7k hands which is pretty small. The only thing I see that kind of surprises me is your vs 3Bet Call%. 23% seems kind of low since you have a VPIP of ~16. If I saw this then I would 3Bet the hell out of you because you are letting people run over you in that part of your game. I think your hand selection would be good enough to call those 3Bets a little more often. Other than that they look great.
