Avtars
it was brought to my attention the other day that avtars althought cute or fun may be a bad idea as most (guessing about 90 % of online players do not actively keep notes on their oppennents the y have no way of keeping track of what kind of payers you are but put that pis or comic in as avtar and they see you a few times and they remember you by your picture not name or note or any other thing but your picture then they start remembering little things you do in your style of play where if you didnt have a picture there they wouldnt even think twice at seeing you at a table

Very true. But the same could be said of live games as well. How often do you remember every player's name at the table? More than likely, if you are like me anyway, you'll remember the face a lot easier than whether their name was Mike or Mark. Your avatar is your online "face".

I can honestly say i remember few of the people ive played before via an avatar.More of whether they do something extremely good/retarded gets my attention. But i dont think a memorable avatar could give past opponent an edge..If anything you can sucker people into thinking you have exactly what you dont and such.
