1) We are deep against someone who is spewy.....

2) There are only 6 combos of sets, and he probably flats my raise alot of the time with them so I discount them slightly. Reason he flats sets mostly is because he views me as aggressive. Again he flats his top pair type hands and doesn't 3Bet them. So really this leaves us mostly draws and random pure air hands with some rare sets.

I included both July and August since I "restarted" in early July.

This time around it was to pay some bills (including Pt2->PT3 upgrade) not loss due to beer at least.

I'm following the 5NL 10NL etc rules I've been pushing in other threads.

The flop is 986 rainbow.

I checked the flop expecting btn to bet any 2 cards, which he does (he was betting every time in position when checked too). BB and UTG+1 go away. I raise. He calls the raise.

The turn is a 7.

Now what?

There's ~$180 in the middle with effective ~$225 or so behind for each of us.

You think he's bad enough to call the flop ch/raise with a GS???

I'm betting and getting it in because I think there are more 2pair type hands in his range than there are straights and **** it I can suck out!

Live game i see the guy holding 10 j suited in that spot prop 60-70% of the time.2 pair 10-20% and a set or 9 10 the other.Surly not a9 but maybe.I make a small bet there around 1\3 the pot $50-$70.

No psychic powers, just some good instinct for a change. The only way I could have seen him play the flop the way he did was if he flopped a straight draw himself or a set. Either way, I had a feeling he would put his money in thinking he was good. Rush players tend to work that way .

Of course he puts in in IF he has a T, otherwise he folds. Since we want to get max value against his entire RANGE shoving there is really quite horrid. If we bet normally he'll raise with his tens and we get his stack anyway. We also allow him to continue with his weaker holdings, which gives us money. We like money. Shoving there is throwing money away.

This month was horrible. I cannot win anymore. I lost motivation to play. Nearly half of my last month's profit down the drain. FML. Looking at this graph just makes me want to puke. All the profit I made within 30k hands and I lose half of it in 5k hands. All the studying I've done for 4-5 months and reading books/articles/videos for NOTHING. I'm a tilt monster who broke my secondary mouse. If I continue playing like this in future at this rate, I'll go busto. I'm disgusted with my poker game and I think imma quit Poker for good. If I don't, I might go back to sngs. Had a stupid dream of becoming a professional poker player one day from building up my bankroll. I'm better off getting a higher paying job. If I can't even grind 5NL, I shouldn't even consider myself poker player.

Poker is not a job you take to make a steady income over short samples (5k hands is NOTHING). I'm winning at over 7BB/100 (yeah sick brag) this month but I had a 5k break even stretch in there that included a 4K hand run where I lost at 8BB/100. What I'm saying is that short sample mean nothing and trying to change your game based on them is not good.

Good thing you mentioned it because actually, i lost 2/3 of what i made in July. I forgot that i profited $50 AFTER the rakeback. Without rakeback, I'm only up 4 buy-ins, which is a huge waste of time and effort considering nearly 32k hands I've played and the time I've spent, which was 2 months. It's amazing how hard it is to go up but how easy it is to go down. But then again, so does everything else in life.

Hi wvhillbilly. TY for mentioning that I shouldn't view Poker as if it's a quick job. I've recently tackled cash game seriously starting 2 months ago. I still got A LOT to learn. But it just gets depressing when I can't even crush the lowest stakes in the world even after studying and obtaining good Poker books/articles/videos while trying to learn and improve my game. I quitted cash games around November last year, and slowly built my bankroll from scratch through sngs, wanted to tackle cash games seriously this time using strong bankroll management of 50 buy-ins since I also have holdem manager.

During first month, I was doing so well. It felt like all my studying, watching people's hand analysis, some CCer's thought processes, etc paid off. It felt like I'm conquering the stake and I can possibly move up if I can pull this same performance this month also. But unfortunately, I lose 2/3 of what I made last month in short amount of hands. This is my true first downswing that I've experienced in cash games as a poker player who planned to take poker seriously at microstakes. It just gets discouraging to play any further as if my 5k hands will continue longer and if my 25k hands were a fluke where i just ran good.

Why can't your last 5K hands be the fluke where you ran bad??

I've played slightly less the 500K total hands and I've had 7 downswings of 10+ BIs with my largest being 21. Basically what I'm saying is that if you can't handle the ups and downs poker of any kind is not for you. Work on your mental game as well as your poker and you'll come out much further ahead in the long run.

2nd foray into ring games...1st time was a total disaster, this time not much better, lol. Got ironman for the month whatever the hell that gets me since I usually don't play at FT, funny how I was just chugging along trying to figure this game out, then the tilt virus got me towards the end of the month, I thought I'd been vaccinated against that playing sngs.

Awful calls, especially when they're deep.

maxi, you absolutely have to raise the turn in hand 2. you're deep with the absolute nuts and the pot is microscopic going to the river. not only that but youre OOP which makes it even harder to extract max value on one street. you need to give him the chance to put more money in on the turn. it's cool that he made an awful call of your 15x pot bet on the river, but that shouldn't have been what needed to happen for you to stack him

Any 6-Max cash game players preferrably around 50NL pm may cuz I am craving talking poker right now

It's been quite the roller coaster ride yesterday and today.

I donked it up a bit yesterday after the first couple beats and turned a 3BI loss into 5 before I started to recover from it.
