Assigning hand ranges at 5nl Okay, I used the search function and I couldnt find a thread about this so.... Is it possible to assign hand ranges at 5nl? I understand the fact that overthinking at 5nl can cost you haha , but I see players running the standard 21/17 limping k3s utg and raising 74o from co Not complaining at all, this isnt a "i need to move up where teh respekt my raizes" Just a topic for discussion thats all... anybody care to chime in?

I think hand ranges can and SHOULD be assigned at any stake. They usually say that you should only be thinking one level above your opponent, as thinking two or more levels above your opponent can backfire and put you in trouble. Assigning a hand range is only level 2 thinking -- thinking about what your opponent has. Many (but not all) villains at 5nl are only thinking at level 1, "what do I have in my hand". If you can properly assign hand ranges at 5nl, you will likely crush the competition. IMO, 21/17s limping K3s UTG and raising 74o from CO at 5nl are to be treated carefully postflop. If you have those notes on them, you need to keep it in consideration that their stats are not always what they seem and widen the range of hands that they could be on. They are obviously not doing it often or else their stats would be affected (assuming the 21/17 is over a large sample). These types can be tricky to play with, and probably won't be as profitable as a player you can reliably pin on a certain range of hands.

ya, it seems like every player at 5nl except for the regs plays like this? It seems hard to assign hand ranges to opponents who play as reckless as they do? It's over 30k hands or so, but on ftp you seem to run into alot of the same people at the same times every day (obv like that for all sites) Just having trouble beating 5nl, ( i know, its pathetic) so I was jw lol thanks alot mr. monkey

| Not sure but IMO at these lower levels that I play at, I really don't think you can give them a range of hands to defend against becasue they will play anything. They have their system, whatever it is, and they are gonna play it there way. I mean most of these type of players are recreational players and not looking to win money, rather just have a good time and not take it serious., I mean in their minds.....It is the cost of a Pizza and a couple of beers....No problem right?...... They are in these games as offensive players only ....betting/raising re-rasing with anything and wanting to see who has the balls to call them with their "All -in" any pair or high card bet they have, and then talk about it at work with the fella's the next day around the water cooler. | re: Assigning hand ranges at 5nl poker I was just looking for threads like this yesterday. for example what is pretty common hands that fall into the 5,10,15,20 percent regions??? i know we cant get a 100% read on their ranges as 10 percent for one person might involve different combinations of what they like to play most. |

I understand pokerstove will help you decide what consists of their range, but is there really any way to see how a guy raising 15% of hands decides to raise 48s? I know that's profitable for us, I'm jw if there really is a way to assign hands to players who arent even thinking on a level 1 basis it seems like
