Anyone willing to let me ghost them?

I am hoping a profitable SNG player will let me ghost them and learn from them. I am currently searching for a stake on a separate website and I want to improve my SNG/MTT play.

All I'd really need is for you to have a IM program where you could tell me your hand and thoughts through the tourney. I wouldn't be playing in the SNG/MTT myself, so no issues of collusion here. Mostly a learning tool for myself.

Anyone up for it?

Is this anything like "sweating"? If so, please call it that. The word "ghost" has taken on a bad connotation lately here on CC.

Do you use HEM or PT3? Another option would be to have a good SNG player send you the hand histories for one or two SNG's and for you to ask them questions about what they did.

You could do this even without PT3 or HEM, they'd just make the HH's easier to review.

Not sure if sweating has the same definition Sticker, I've just seen this mentioned at another forum and thought it would be a great too to make the step from STT to SNG/MTT.

Would be good Sly. I'm running a demo of PT3 atm. Would like to sit through the tournament with the person however.

Im subscribed to Marty Smith's "turtleknife" ( hes a really good mtt player and makes free training videos ) videos on his site and hes gonna do a live video broadcasting...thats sounds kind of the thing your asking for.....well heres the email he sent me, and i hope the links are not against the cc rules.

The other night I tested out a video blog service that allows me to
broadcast LIVE while I am playing poker tournaments. This will
allow anyone to watch as I play and chat with me too. It is of
course, entirely free and I am inviting you to join me for chat in
my first ever live video broadcast this Friday (July 31st) at
midnight, EST to play the Full Tilt Midnight Madness tournament.

Here is the link for you to subscribe. If you sign up there, it
will allow you to chat, otherwise you can just watch.

I will be sending out another notice for this Friday night and
posting on my Twitter account too. This is really just going to be
fun and I invite you to play along with me in the tournament. By
the way if I get knocked out early (entirely plausible), I will
continue the broadcast for at least an hour playing a sit and go
tournament.

If you have any questions to ask me, this would be an excellent
opportunity to discuss them live and plugged in, with me and anyone
else who joins the chat room. Ideally you will have my video blog
window open, and also the poker table I am playing on open as well.
I will be openly discussing all hands and plays.

If you can't make it, no problem. If this turns out to be fun, I
will schedule many more.

First off..... I don't particularly like the way MartySmith plays SNG's... and if you look him up in 9-plyr. SNG's.. he actually doesn't run very well at all. It wasn't until recently (past 6mos. or so?) that he moved to 45plyr. Sng's is doing better on them. [I don't think he's much of an MTT player either.... last I know.. his best finish was running fairly deep in the Mid.Madness]. He is a helpful guy though and all his stuff is free, I just don't think it's that good (good perhaps for a complete noob)... oh yah... it's free but there's the constant push towards purchasing TournamentIndicator (<< sp?).

Toronto!!!.... I grew up outside of Toronto.

I think I can help you out (free coaching... before I turn pro.. lol).
I'll send you a pm.

re: Anyone willing to let me ghost them? poker

Info. re: MartySmity aka 'Turtleknife'....
Don't get me wrong... he's a nice guy and he seems to have a big heart.. and his stuff is free.... but.....

9-plyr. SNG's played on Fulltilt
155games,
avg. buyin > $11
ROI > -10%
Total Profit > -$154.85

MTT played on Fulltilt
436 games, ROI -34%, avg.buyin $10, Total Profit -$1,492

He does have better numbers in 'all' SNG's (since he began focusing on the 45's) but wasn't even a break-even player til' Jan.'09.

He's a nice guy but thought these numbers might be relevant when considering following someone's advice.

Yah.. I watched that badbeats one too.... very funny stuff, especially his reaction when the suckout hits. Who can't relate to that stuff eh.

I think his stuff is okay and the guy obviously has a big heart and helps out a TON of players. I just disagree with alot of his 9-plyr. SNG play (gets himself into some pretty marginal spots from playing a few too many hands imo). For sure it'd help a newer player though,... even if it was just to gain some insight and direction into some of the thinking/thought processes going on while playing on the tables (even if one disagrees with some of it, or obviously has their own thought processes/style of play, it still helps as it gets one's own thoughts going and can help a newer player get some direction on stuff they might want to be considering while playing on the tables <<< not really wording this all too well.. but you prob get what I mean).

Yeah, ghosting is having multiple people play the hand, which is not allowed.

Sweating is different, cuz you don't offer your input, merely see what cards the player has and how he plays them. It's fine to ask why he did something, but you can't work together say to put together the best line on a certain hand then play it that way.

I'll let you listen in while I'm playing if you're interested. I play mostly 9-plyr. SNG's, & MTT's. I'm assuming from your post that your plans are for playing the 45's?.. or 90's? I don't have a ton of experience in these myself and have actually just been taking a crack at them here recently and have been doing a bit of homework on them in hopes of turning it into a bread&butter game for myself (as I've discovered that ALOT of the better MTT players play these). Mixed results so far but only a small sample size. One thing I've noticed is, in micro stakes ($3 > $10), the skill level of the players in the turbos far exceeds those playing in the regs. (generally speaking that is). In the Turbos there are ALOT of players who are quite good and are profitting nicely. Contrary to what many believe, I actually prefer to play on tables populated by a few of these guys, as opposed to a table full of loose/pass, and overly loose-aggro-spew-tards (a few donks is a good thing... a table FULL of them is a nightmare... for myself anyways).

If you want to get on an IM program, I use Skype. Send me a pm and I'll try to hook up with you to do this (yes... and a couple others I've promised I'd do this with as well... sorry to those as I've been kind of busy recently). Who knows.. maybe we'd end up getting a small group of players together who could hook up frequently as I KNOW this is a great way to improve upon one's game (two + minds are always better than just one... even if it's just to get yourself to consider and think about things differently). << I used to do this stuff awhile back and have been missing it as there's always something to be gained from the process, even if it's just to gain a better understanding of what one's opponent's thought processes might be under similiar circumstances.
