Anyone here find they play better when they DON'T multitable?
I can do alright two tabling. But I'll never play more than 2 tables at once, I just can't play well at all and I'm unfocused. But it seems like I play a lot better when I just play one table at a time instead of two, IDK why. How many tables do you guys play at once?

At the moment, I only play one table and I feel my play suffers really badly when I play two or more.
But then I learned live, and just getting used to having to make a decision in 15 seconds online was a shock at first ![]() |

I play better when I multitable, especially in SNG since I won't be tempted to make a move when card dead or clearly behind due to boredom.
Cash game, I play 3-4 depending on my mood. Usually 4 though. I'll get a tracking program if I plan on playing more than 4 cash games though. |

I only play one table because I spend all the time between deals reviewing the past hands and making notes on players. It is slowly taking less time, since I keep playing with the same people and don't have to make as many notes once I have tagged them and confirmed the tag. I search out the tables with known fish.

I'll occasionally play two tables, a ring game and a tourney if I find the action in the tourney is unusually slow (you know the ones, where EVERY player acts like every hand is a major decision and it takes forever to play out one hand) but for the most part I try to limit myself to one table so that I can observe how my opponents are playing their hands.

i am the worst multi tabler ever....
there was only instance where i had a successful multi tabling experience where i played 2 SNG's at once and won one and got 3rd in the other. that was it. |

I don't think anybody denies that their performance goes down when they multitable. But, if you win X at a single table and X-1 per table at four tables, you are ahead if your X is high enough. My problem is that my X is so close to zero that multitabling means instead of a small gain I have a loss. Maybe some day when I get as good as (insert your favorite CC person here) I can play more than one and profit.

No not at all. For a number of reasons. I am not saying playing multipule tables is better. It is obviously easier to keep track of one table than two or more. However some players get bored waiting for hands, and play hands that they shouldn't sheerly down to boredom. To say moving up the limits does the same thing is incorrect. Say you have two tables running at $50 NL with the max buy in, then you do have the same buy in as one $100 NL table. But you can only have one buy in at stake in anyone hand, losing a big pot at the higher limit will hurt much more than at the lower buy in, and can seriously effect your play. Of course you can win bigger pots, but the damage done by losing a big pot, is far more damaging than the gain you get from winning a big pot. It is all in the mind, but it really does have serious consequences |

I have found that I can finish in the money if I only play 1 table - as soon as 2 or more get going, I tighten up play - and only play good hands, but overall, I seem to lose more, and I think that it's because I am not paying attention to how people are betting. JB |

![]() Here is an example of a green dot note: 65o crA2s Arag This means (to me) that this person Called the blind with 65 off suit. Called a raise with Ace 2 suited. Called the blind with Ace and something less than ten off suit. Last edited by pigpen02 : 17-11-2007 at 4:10 PM. |

multi tabling can only be allowed if you combine your buy ins and fits your bankroll requirements...
so if i have the bankroll to play $5 SNGs, and i want to multi table, i multi table 2 $2 SNGs or 5 $1 SNGs |

I disagree. I do cash games but my 4-tabling 5/10c tables for one hour is equivalent to playing for 4 hours at one 5/10c, not one hour at 20/40c. Variance is less when you play several hands at once. You're playing more hands per hour, not for higher stakes per hand. See the difference? Similar logic for sngs as well. |

Naturally, the more table you play the smaller your ROI gets. How small depends on 1. your skill level, 2. your ability to multitask, and 3. if you have any tracker aids (PT w/HUD for example). If your ROI is around 15% with one table (say at $5 SNGS), and only goes down 1 or 2 percent with a second table then it is still very profitable to do so.
When I have the time I feel comfortable multitabling 4 sngs at once, usually $5 or $10. I stagger the starts so I don't end up in high blind or heads up play at several tables, as it can be very fast and frustrating. Or start a turbo and a regular 9 table at the same time, as the turbo will end much quicker. In tourneys and CC events I usually only play the one table, as it gives me time to take notes and observe other players actions (like pigpen already stated). You lose that edge when multitabling. |

I much prefer to play 2 to 3 tables. Usually a couple SNG's and a ring game. It keeps the boredom away and I'm not tempted to over think hands and make ill advised plays. If I don't do this I end up turning on the TV and thats much worse.
One thing I did learn was to stagger the SNG's. One time I was in 3 SNG's at once, and ended up heads up in 2 of them and down to 3 people in the third one. It was very very difficult to keep up. |

I find I do much better with just one table open. To combat boredom and to try not to become a calling station I either post here, read news online or read blogs. I know I should pay more attention to the table for betting patterns but usally at the low limits I play you can tell from the first 5 hands lol.

One table at a time 4 me.....unless I'm playing in a tourney and its getting really frustrating due to boredom. I then start a low stakes cash game aswell. Have to be carefull though cos I tend to focus on one only

One table for me to stay focused. I'll do two once in a while, but usually only freerolls. Playing two or more just allows too much info to pass unnoticed. Even when I fold a hand, what others do is important to my game in other hands.
One thing I try never to do is multi-table different games. THAT gets really confusing - for me at least. |

I have to multi table when I play. If I don't my mind wanders and I will actually play worse sometimes.
However and this is important. I have to stagger my tables when I'm doing SnGs. 3 tables aren't bad if you start them all at the same time but if you start getting into the bubble or the money on all 3 it becomes far too hectic. Often times I'll start a table, when the blinds increase I'll start a second, and sometimes a third after another blind increase. |
