You lost about as little as possible there. I probably raise the turn, then hate myself and fold when he likely pushes.

On a side note, is there a Hand convertor here, or do you prefer to just read the HH's like I posted?

Calling down here is fine, since there is a possible flush on board as well. Nice play, too bad with the result.

i think that maybe a bet on the flop of about the size of the pot could have maybe pushed him oaff gut shot straight draw. if he called you may have lost another 2 bets but you could have taken the pot before you were beat.

This is results oriented thinking. Betting 600 here to try and win this pot would be stupid. Yes, in this instance it may have won the pot. However, most of the time this is just a waste of chips. The SB will be calling if he hit any part of that flop (which is dangerous given theres a flush draw and straight draw possibilites galore). There is no need to make this pot larger with just a gutshot yourself. Just checking and calling is the way to keep this pot small with some dangerous cards out there. (flush card on turn)

I have to agree with ChiCubs here...
The last thing I want to do is start betting on a 3 card draw to a straight....
I'm not willing to make this pot any bigger than it has to be with my holding.

I know that you will be building the pot up, but aggression is the way of winning. If you were in the spot of Monteju could you call a 600-800 bet with a gutshot straight draw. If you played the pot odds then you just couldnt call a pot sized bet.

Yes, aggression is one way of winning... and quite an important way too....
But 4-8s?
This was neither the time, nor the place for an out and out bluff on the flop.
