Any suggestions for someone starting out with a Small Bankroll?
Anyone have suggestions on how to build a bankroll if you start out with say $50 on each site? Which games should I play? I play a lot of freerolls right now but they are difficult to win. I usually place in the money but usually the last few spots.

I always have a small bankroll (mostly min. deposit)
I play $3 single table Sng's at Stars or .05/.10 ring at Stars. If you play tight at the cash game you can do well. If you play super-tight aggressive you can always make final 4 and then go for the win at the Sng's. If you fancy the bigger tourneys go with Dorkus' suggestion or even a 180 player Sng for a bigger payout (if you can get there) |

When you say $50 on each site, how many sites do you mean?
Say, if your total bankroll is $200. You are better depositing this at one site, and building you active bankroll from here. I wont bore you with the reasons. Now, i'll do a load of reading between the lines, and assume that the reason you want to deposit on multiple sites is to look at clearing bonuses. You are still better to pull the full active bankroll from site to site in this case as well, starting at the sites where it is easiest to clear the bonus (in relation to the size of the bonus). If you give me some more details I can suggest levels. |

Thanks for the suggestions so far. It really is great advise. I really enjoyed reading the poker guide, thanks. I have several sites I've recently downloaded ( Pokerstars, Bodog, Poker.com, Ultimate Bet, Absolute, Royal Vegas, and Tropical) but do not intend to put in any money till the beginning of next year. I've been playing freerolls and play money to test them out. I probably will not put money into all at one time til I find what I like. I've been with Pokerstars and Bodog a little longer and I played the lowest limit games with my small bankroll. My stategy was to go into a game and win a couple of dollars in a game and then switch to another room and play for another couple of dollars, each time entering the room with only the $10 requirement and keeping the additional money I kept in the other rooms. If I saw I was losing in a room a few cents then I would change rooms. I ended up doubling my money within no time.

If like you say you are just starting out in the big bad world of real money poker, the only two bits of advice I can offer you is number#1, until you become successful, treat your BR as an expense, IE, you could have to add more money to your poker accounts for the foreseeable future, and 2# jump on to Neteller so you have more leeway with your shillings.
Happy hunting. |

Be careful not to attribute the reason why you won or lost a certain hand to a particular site though (i'm sure you wont ).When you start to play for real next year I recommend not moving around so frequently. |

There was a really good thread on bankroll on the forums a while back, worth a read if you missed it:
