Any pair plus flush draw on flop. ADVICE? PLZ HELP I recently faced too many decisions where I flop a pair PLUS a flush draw. I won quite often but I lost too. What happened was, I had 9 10 spades suited. Flop came out 10h Js 2s. This guy had top pair top kicker. He raised me all in. I called. It was sit-n-go. I had about 1500 chips. he had 1000. I called bcz even if I lose, I still have 500 left. But what are your approaches when you face pair plus flush draw. Please help me. Thank you.

Well as usual it all depends...In that situation I probably would have done the same thing. But it almost always comes down to the pot size, how high my drawing cards are and what pair I have. You've got 14 outs to the best hand(9 spades, 3 nines and 2 tens, plus the small chance of catching runner runner straight) giving you a 35% chance of winning the hand by the river(My math might not be so good) If you're getting anymore then 2/1 to call then it's the right decision. Sometimes if you're not getting quite the right odds you can try and chase but like you said, you win some you lose some.

They are tough to lay down. I do prefer being the aggressor if only one other is in the hand. If more are in I try to slow play it a bit (depending on how high the flush draw is). I think you just have to watch later in tournaments when stacks are larger. If you are a big stack and the person pushing against you is big as well do you want to risk it that late in the tourny on that hand? I would probably lay down if it was a mid or low flush draw with second or bottom pair in that situation if other player was somewhat tight. Again depends on the other player or players I am against for final decision on these hands.

A lot of this depends on the villain here, so this can go either way. If you have just moved to the table and have no info on the guy, then I would have to say that I would lay this hand down. I would see his raise as a sign that he had a hand and was trying to prevent you from getting an easy path to the next cards to see if you hit a draw. However, if you felt he was a fish and you had an opportunity to take his chips, then go for it. A lot depends on your read of the villain here. I'm just guessing here, but as he is down to 1000 chips I'm guessing you saw him lose a hand and felt that he was a player worth taking the risk against, so all-in-all i think you made the right play.

Having a pair and a flush draw on the flop is very strong. Most of the time you should bet a lot or raise. There are a few occasions where you should fold but its rare. Such a situation is when more than 1 other player is all in. Straight and flush draws, a pair and a flush draw, a flush draw and over cards, etc are all strong hands that you should almost always play strongly.

re: Any pair plus flush draw on flop. ADVICE? PLZ HELP poker With the hand you describe, I would try to get in as cheap as possible, either card that you paired are middle of the road pairs and should be treated with caution. As for the flush draw, your hand is still not that strong with the two cards you hold, many times I have been out flushed with someone holding the queen king or ace with another spade. So take it slow in those situations, note how the other players are betting and be cautious. Try a medium raise of 2 or 300 and see how the table reacts to get a feel of your strength, then it will be easier to get away from the hand if necessary if 4th street and the river go bad for you.
