Annoying little thing that happens to me: NLH

One of my personal better skills is decieving (either slow-playing or representing a weak hand when i have a bigger one or the vise versa)
One thing that happens to me, though (and just did 2 mins ago - that's why i'm writing this) is that sometimes weaker players are so decieved that they play crappier hands and end up busting me with bad beats...
i need an example to clarify:
in $20 SnG I'm shortstacked and challenged by 1 other player in terms of skill (I'm not braggin, just bein honest; those SnGs are ridiculously easy)

I wake up on the button with KK - UTG who is the challenging villain, limps (this is now 4 handed) i raise 550 w/ blinds at 50/100 and get call from BB(passive, prob had AT or A9 or something like that) and UTG; the reason i got these two calls is that i usually bet 3-4XBB with the rest of my hands - i was representing a small pair or a weaker ace or something like that by overbetting preflop -
flop comes 9c7s3h and UTG bets all in - i have about 500 left so i push.
BB folds and UTG flips over K9h and hits his backdoor flush on the river...

If I had either pushed PF (with my 11 or so BB stack) or raised my normal amount, I'm positive that they would not have called PF, or at least they would have given me respect on the flop when i pushed...

This has happened to me several times, with almost exactly the same results - I overbet a big PP and get callers with garbage who draw me out because they are putting me on AK and if there's no A or K on the board, they decide that their bottom pair is the best....

...sorry just needed to vent - what do you think about my play? Sometimes i guess it's just impossible to bet out the goons in the game...I put him on my buddy list though, and hopefully i will see him again at a cash game or another SnG sooner than later

I would want the guy with K9 utg to call me every single time I had KK. Yes, he may suck out on you a couple of times, but he's a guy that makes online poker profitable. Just think about how many "sklansky" dollars you made of this guy! You'll just have to wait to next time you meet him before you can cash out

Well raising to 550 is almost 6BB with is a rather huge raise and the K9 getting back door flush, you know he was completly lucky and as Osmann pointed out i would love him to call me every single time ^_^

This kind of crap is happening to me ALOT lately, and it's really starting to tick me off. PF raise w/ AKs, called by J/5os and Q/4s...guess who wins? Yeah, J/5 boy. On the river. I have so many other examples and cry stories other than that one, but I digress.

It seems lately that people are willing to bet their stack on any two suited cards, face-x, Ax, gut-shot, etc. I saw a guy in the same game above call a substantial all-in bet with one club in his hand, one on the board, and get his runner-runner flush. WTF??? He had no pair, and no other draws.

I think that the popularity of poker has grown so much, that now "everybody's doing it" and a lot of these people are clueless. The bad part is, they ALL seem to get lucky on a showdown w/ me everytime...I think I need a break.

Look Tammy, this is the sort of play that you WANT to see. You want your raises called with inferior hands, if they draw out aginst you so be it, its the luck factor that the donks depend on and that you also depend on.

Let them have their pots when they hit a gutshot, learn the skill of letting go of hands especially in N/L when your dead, its a very tough skill to learn. But you AKs on a missed flop with several callers is usually no longer the best hand, a continuation bet is all you can do, and then shut down.

These donks are my favourite players, i hate ulra tight tables, let the donks chase, mess up their odds and before you know it youll be raking it in. Just learn to give up when you know theve hit.

You're absolutely right of course. It still just ticks me off. But yes, I certainly should get PokerTracker in order to evaluate my play. I'm sure there are huge holes in my play that I need to tighten up on. Just had to vent.

same thing...thats why i started this thread - i realize that these are the donks that made my bankroll for me
it's just the short-term bad beat but long-term winning play thing

When you slowplay a big hand it is to entice lesser hands to play with you, sometimes they are going to get lucky. Having a bad run, don't slowplay. As has been said the better player is the one who has to suffer the bad beats. To quote Homer, or maybe it was Jethro, can't have your Kate & Edith too.

this type of thing has been happening to me a lot lately too, so i can really sympathize with you chuck. almost to the point where i'm dealt KK and i think "oh no this is dangerous - here we go again. . ." so of course i'll raise pre-flop, and lately i'm getting all sorts of calls from hands like 8 4. the next logical step is that they draw a rediculously improbable straight and i'm looking at my KK with disgust.

but like its been said, over time these are the players that you want to have call you. but the moment of the bad beat sucks!

its a tough game when you can make all the correct plays and still lose. . .

2 nights ago I had the following beats with all my chips going in preflop

AA losing to 1010

KK losting to KQ

QQ losing to K7

AQ losing to A2

AQ losing to KJ

When your luck is out, your luck is out. You gotta ride the storm and climb back on board and start over. Like TB said, you want these idiots to call with nothing but it doesnt make it any less painful when your premium hand getting taken out

On the plus side, my 44 did crack 1010!!

I too have had this happen quite frequently over the last litle while. My bankroll has decreased by 35% in the last week because crap like that!!! I had pocket As and some clown stayed in (which is normally okay) and he went all in and caught the turn and river, one of which was another A, to make his flush. Of course, it's just bad luck, but if I ever tried drawing for a flush against pocket As, I would lose for sure!!!
