the first 4 hands in my opinion are worse than 72os. JTos is only a steal hand in my opinion, the same value as j4os. It takes a very strong reading ability to know when your are ahead or behind with those hands. for us mere mortals, I say fold 'em.

You're most likely saving money by not playing them. They are often dominated hands so you're only playing them in hope of hitting 2 pair or better. That said, if you manage to flop a straight against a TPTK hand against the right opponent you can stack them. This is not going to happen very often so probably best to just fold preflop.

re: Am I losing much value in never playing these hands? poker I usually don't play these hands from early position but IMO it's hard to lose alot as they're all pretty easy to get away from when you flop top pair vs heavy action. Still, I would open raise all of these hands from the button virtually every time where my PT3 data base shows I have a solid 31BB/100. How are you playing them?

The proverbial, 'it depends'. If you are in position and getting odds (my ROT would be 4:1) I play JTo every time. Then chance of stacking TPTK or a set with mid pair is worth it imo.

Thats easy than if you are losing money with those hands , dont play them, seems pretty cut and dry to me. I mean would you go to a change machine put in a dollar and it only gives you back two dimes and a nickel. Than keep going back there putting in dollars getting less than a dollar back in hopes it may give you a buck fifty someday. I think not.

re: Am I losing much value in never playing these hands? poker Tricky one, imo just because your table image and playing virtually any hand in position can be profitable. if your not raising trash hands in position then your vpip is really gunna look nitty, and nits dont get paid off by anyone but fish. I think its worth taking slight losses with these hands (maybe learn to play position better longrun, to eventually profit and become better lognterm ) since you will be paid off more with your big hands not just by fish but by good/bad regs as well.
